Poolside Flip Flop Accordion Mini Album

 Are you in search of the perfect Summer mini album? Look no further–Melissa Phillips has a clever concept for crafting an accordion mini from Crate Paper's Poolside flip-flop patterned paper and it's impressive to say the least. It includes a 'trim & fold' short-cut and a cute Poolside mason jar pocket.

Can you believe summer is almost here? Before you know it, it will be time for flip flops, swimsuits, watermelon, and all things summer! The Poolside collection from Crate Paper has got your summer paper-crafting projects covered and in the most irresistible ways too :).

My project today uses the Double Sided Flip Flops paper to form a fun little accordion style tag/card gift.

I simply cut straight across the top and bottom of the row of pre-printed tags, scored them along the fold lines, and folded them back and forth, creating an instantly cute gift. All that was left was to add a few embellishments.

I used one of the darling new Jar Pockets to the front, sprinkling in a bit of confetti.  

I then added a die cut tag, and layered Stand-Out pinwheel...both add dimension, fun, and personality.

I mixed in Wood Veneer shapes, enamel dots, cardstock stickers and frames, glittered die-cuts, etc. and in just a few minutes, had my creation ready to share.

There's so much to love about summertime....the Poolside collection, is most definitely one of those things :)

Spring into Color with Crate Paper!

Cute & Colorful is where it's at! Today, Maria Lacuesta plays hostess to a pretty desktop image that is the inspiration for her layout and playful color palette. Everything about it is darling!

Spring always makes me a little giddy. After a long winter, I dressed up my computer with this cute and colorful wallpaper. I used it as inspiration for my layout this week because I fell in love with the polka-dotted whimsy and amazing hues.

The color palette: 
Gold, Beige, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Fuchsia & Red

These photos are from a recent trip to Shake Shack. It finally felt like Spring and my boyfriend and I had fun walking around the city and eating delicious food. It was definitely a celebration and I knew I wanted to document this memory for my Spring page.

I also love that my photos have pops of red, orange, and beige that tie in with my color palette. The rest of the hues were easy to incorporate with papers from the 'Confetti' collection by Maggie Holmes.

I'm in LOVE with the sequin stickers from the new 'Poolside' collection and used one to mimic the typographical feel of my inspiration image. I also grabbed a couple of elements from the Poolside ephemera pack to help reinforce my color palette.

To finish, I added some messy stitching and journaling strips--my favorite!

Hello! Jennifer Chapin here today, and I am super excited to be contributing to Crate's "Spring Into Color" theme this week. Lately I have been so inspired by bright colors, so I decided to make my own sort of inspiration board using some colored clipboards and items from my scrapbooking stash.

 

 

I gathered up some elements.....pink, yellow and blue. Some of these items are new and some are vintage.

 

 

I also included some paints as part of the color spectrum.

 

 

Clips, thread and buttons found their way into my inspiration photo as well.

 

 

Here is the layout I created using the color inspiration photo. I used the new Poolside collection for this project. The colors were perfect! I used a color grouping technique and kept elements within their color for a tone-on-tone effect.  Let's take a look at the individual colors.

 

 

Pink - this palette is bright and fun, drawing a few different shades of pink together.

 

 

I pulled in pink tags, stickers, enamel and chipboard to complete the look.

 

 

Layering up these elements was so much fun. I also got to use one of the new chipboard frames, these are my favorite.

 

 

Next up, yellow. So bright and warm. My favorite accent color for scrapbooking!

 

 

This was my favorite section to create! I used a few die cuts as well as the gold glitter sun found in the ephemera pack. I was also able to incorporate the yellow clip from my inspiration photo.

 

 

Another fun sticker about flip flops. So perfect for those summer photos!

And last but not least....blue. Well, this palette is more of a blue-green, but I stuck with a more traditional blue color scheme for my project.

 

The patterns in this collection are so fun. These blue pieces look like water! So neat. I also added in some wood enamel dots, a pinwheel, acetate, and some stickers.
