Christmas time is here! Can you believe it, Crate Paper fans? That magical, warm, fuzzy feeling is brewing in the air. Decorations and lights are adorning the houses lining my street. It’s a beautiful sight to see because it lets you know that everybody has that same magical feeling too. And if that weren’t enough to get your spirits up, Crate Paper’s new Christmas collection Snowflake is here and it’s lovely! I’m all about Christmas decorations and crafts, so you best believe I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this collection. The first project I made using Snowflake was a couple of darling Christmas cards, and I can’t wait to show you the details!
Christmas cards are so much fun to make. They are simple, but oh so sweet and personal. You can craft them to reflect your own style and a special message to someone you care for. Not to mention they also double as cute home décor if you want to create a card display! Snowflake is the perfect collection for this because it contains all the cozy and whimsy icons that bring the Christmas spirit to life. From warm mittens, to classic pine trees, to bright stars – Snowflake is the key to all your dreamy Christmas crafts.
Christmas time is all about giving and spreading love. Cards a perfect way to do just that. The simplest act of being thoughtful with a handmade creation does wonders. I can confirm this because I’ve also been the card receiver, not just the maker and giver. You heart warms right up and it makes you want to do the same for others. And ultimately, that’s what Christmas is all about – making people feel loved and cared for.
I decided to use the 6x8 paper pad to form the base of my cards. It was as easy as picking my patterned papers and folding them in half! After that, I added another layer of patterned paper on top, and began my embellishing. My first card was just a “joy” to make! Get it – joy? That’s exactly what I wanted to depict on this card. And the darling colorful chipboard letters were perfect!
I wanted to create a lot of dimension so I used some foam dots to pop up a piece of ephemera first. Then I arranged the “joy” letters directly on top. After those were secure, I also popped up the “Brrr” banner ephemera piece on some small foam dots and layered it on top of the “O.”
I arranged a line of Christmas tree stickers along the bottom edge of the card, along with some phrase stickers to the right side of the card. For a finishing touch, I took that cute Christmas tree car sticker and layered it on top and slight behind my main center piece. I absolutely love how it turned out!
For my second card, I used a more traditional color scheme of green and red. Again, I wanted to create a lot of dimension so I began with the little “let it snow” notecard ephemera piece. I popped it up on some foam dots and began embellishing different stickers on top of it. Two chipboard Christmas trees are layered to the left side. I also put a yellow tree cardstock sticker to the right with a gold ticket ephemera piece.
The bundled up girl with her ear muffs is so adorable! So of cours I had to add her on this card a well. I stuck her down to the right side of the notecard. Then I added some phrase stickers - two toward the bottom right corner of the card, and one at the very top middle. And for the finishing touch on this card, I added a chipboard star and a puffy star to the top right corner.
Both cards came together so easily, and I’m obsessed with both. They currently lay displayed on my TV console as décor until they go directly to their new homes along with their corresponding gifts. And as much as part of me wants to keep them forever, I can’t wait to give them away to a couple special people.
I hope you feel inspired to use Snowflake for your Christmas crafts this year! It makes the perfect set of cards, that’s for sure. But the possibilities are endless! Bundle up, get cozy, and let your creativity run wild with this beautiful Christmas collection. There’s no better way to have crafty fun than by making things for others to show you care.
