Halloween Count Down Flip Album

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by the Crate Paper blog today. It’s Amber here with an exciting project I can’t wait to share. But first off, I can’t believe we are already approaching and anticipating Halloween and all its festivities! How crazy is it that we are officially in the depths of the Fall season? I’ve been so excited for Fall and all the fun activities and holidays that follow.

Halloween has always been a favorite for me. I love all the decorations, treats, parties, and of course the crafts! This will be our very first Halloween in our new home and I wanted to create something to help us count down the days. So, I decided to make a Halloween count down flip album!

I wanted to use only one binder ring to hold all the pages together so I could potentially hang it up somewhere in our house. To start, I chose my patterned papers. The 6x8 paper pad worked perfectly for this! I simply chose my papers and trimmed them in half down to 4x6 inches. I did have to use some repeat patterns to have enough for 31 days’ worth of pages.

The 12x12 cut apart patterned paper with the little numbered squares from 1-31 was the perfect way to get all my numbers on there! I just cut it apart with my paper trimmer so each numbered square could be used on a single album page to signify what day of October it would be.

Once this was done, I began to decorate and embellish my pages one at a time. This was seriously the most fun! Crate Paper’s new Hey Pumpkin collection for Halloween is incredible. The colors, the icons, the patterns – everything about this collection is just perfect for creating all kinds of crafts for Halloween! The possibilities are endless because it’s so easy to let your creativity run wild with this collection.

After finishing my embellishing, I used my Crop-A-Dial to make a single hole punch near the top of each page. I then looped my binder ring through all the page holes and clipped it together. And there you have it! A spooky, festive, Halloween count down flip album that is going to keep me excited as we get closer to Halloween.

Crafting and scrapbooking is such a great way to get into the “spirit” and celebrate upcoming holidays. There is nothing more fun in my opinion! I hope you feel inspired to use Hey Pumpkin for some fun Halloween crafts this year!

3D Haunted House Inspiration

Hi Girls! It's Flóra back today. I am sharing a cute Halloween decor idea what I created with the awesome seasonal Hey Pumpkin collection. I really love all the fun papers and matching embellishments. It is very easy to mix and match the patterned papers with different type of stickers. The design is cool, the colors are perfect to make something spooky. I wanted to make a 3D Halloween house for today, so I cut out a simple base with cutting machine. I used the black polka dot Eeek paper.

 

 

It was easy to put together the house. As you see I backed the windows with white paper. I like the misty look. Then, the fun part started and decorated the front of the house.

 

 

I have used tiny bits & pieces from all kind of stickers sheets. I added Puffy Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Cardstock Stickers and even Clear Stickers from the Sticker Book. The title is from Ephemera pack. For some elements, I used foam tape to reach 3D look. I made a few close-ups so you can check the little details.

 

 

You can create different sizes of houses and place them on the fireplace or decorate the dining table. It would be super cool to build a whole town with kids. I am sure they would enjoy making it. With Hey, Pumpkig you can make fast eye-cathing Halloween DIYs.

Hey Pumpkin Scrapbook Layout

Hello Crate Paper friends!  Happy Spooky October!!  I am excited to share my layout using Hey Pumpkin today.  I adore this collection!  In my opinion, Hey Pumpkin is classically Halloweenish with fun colours and a modern twist! My layout today was inspired by the holographic Hocus Pocus Thickers.  I love the fun icons and shiny foil surface!

I started by cutting a spider web heart cut file (by Paige Evans) from white cardstock.  I scraped Vicki Boutin Silver Texture Paste over the entire spider web onto another sheet of white cardstock.  I was careful to lift it as I went so it wouldn't stick to the paper underneath.  I wasn't sure if I would use the under paper at this point, but wanted to have the choice!  You could scrape texture paste over a cut file on a Sticky Thumb Splat Mat by American Crafts and then you wouldn't have to worry about it sticking to the surface below!

Next, I spent some time adding paint splatters to the full textured background.  I decided it was too pretty not to use!  I mixed up a colour that was close to the pale pink/peach colour in Hey Pumpkin and also added some yellow, pinkish-orange and mint green splatters. Once everything had dried, I added a couple of layers of holographic tulle on top of my spider web and stitched it onto the background with my sewing machine.  Next, I added my vertical 4x6 photo and two tags from the Hey Pumpkin Ephemera Pack.  I added some black and white baker's twine to the tags for additional texture, and I always love to put some type of string through a tag!

I found the Spooky H die-cut in the ephemera pack, and since my daughter's name is Hannah, it served two purposes! I filled in the bottom of the H ticket with a pumpkin sticker and a crow sticker.  For finishing touches, I added loads of holographic stars, a pumpkin and the Eek! The sentiment below the photo.  You can see in the photo below I offset the spiderweb when I stitched it on so that the background could show through the open spaces!

Hey Pumpkin Mini Album with Bea Valint

Hey Crate Paper fans! Its Bea here and I’m so excited to share my first project using Hey Pumpkin collection. Halloween collections are always fun to create with, and Hey Pumpkin is no exception. I love the traditional colors and all the adorably spooky embellishments!

We always celebrate Halloween at least two times (at the school and at our house party), so we have bunch of photos to document every year. I decided to create the base of our Halloween album in advance, and add the photos later. I wanted to create a really fun and witchy album, so I turned my album into a cute, black reticule.

To do that, I cut a paper box using my cutting machine, and added a glittered foam bag buckle. I used the same striped fabric to decorate the album and the paper bag, and attached the bag handle to the spine of the mini album.

The size of my album is 4.25x5.25”. I used my favorite album binding technique, the hidden hinges technique. First, I created a chipboard album cover and then I folded hidden hinges to hold the pages. To decorate the cover, I backed a glittered chipboard frame with patterned paper and layered fussy cut houses on the front.  The beautiful puffy stickers with holographic foil accents are one of my favorites in the collection, and I can’t resist to add the lovely cat sticker to the cover. The sparkling rat stickers and chipboard numbers added a special festive touch to the album.

I added a lot of interactive pages, hidden journal tags, and tiny pockets to the album. I decorated the pages mostly with stickers and ephemera pieces. The large orange sequences from the ephemera pack were perfect to fill up the shaker pocket!

As a finishing touch, I added fall leaves and beads to the album ‘handle’. I used my WRMK foil quill to add silver lines to the leaves, and then cut them out using my Silhouette.

The playful form of the album is absolutely makes me happy, and I can’t wait to fill the page with our memories. Thanks for joining my today, I hope you’re all inspired to create with this super fun collection!

Witch's Hat SVG - Free Download!

Happy October CP fans! With Halloween around the corner, we wanted to give you a fun and versatile craft to work on this month. Witch's Hats! These cute mini hats are the perfect addition to any tablescape or party. You could also place it on a headband and wear it as a hat, or add them to one of your spooky projects! 

So let's get started!

Supplies

1. Electronic Cutting Machine
2. Hot Glue Gun or Tape Runner
3. Our FREE SVG File (Download it HERE)
4. Crate Paper Hey Pumpkin Paper Pad
5. Hey Pumpkin Embellishments

First, gather all of the pieces you cut from the SVG file. Grab the hollow circle and the circle with slits in the center. Glue the hollow circle on top of the circle with slits - but make sure you glue it on the side you DON'T want shown on the hat.

Next, flip over your newly glued circle and add glue to each slit. You will want to make sure you glue this well. Once that is done, push the slits up towards you. These will secure the base of the hat to the top of the hat. Take the half circle and glue it into a cone. Then place on top of the slits. You may want to shape the cone a little bit over the slits to make sure it is the right size before gluing.

Press the slits against the cone to glue securely together and to create the hat shape. Lastly, add you cute band and embellish! 

And that's it! These hats are super easy to make and we can't wait to see all of your gorgeous creations! Don't forget to tag us! #createwithcrate

Decorative Fall Leaves with Sandra

Hi and welcome to the Crate Paper Blog. It's me, Sandra from the Crate Paper Design Team. Today I'm sharing a collection of handmade decorative fall leaves. The leaves are great for adding something special to cards, plant pots or presents.

 

 

How to:

 

To make the leaves, I used patterned paper from the Heritage Collection, acetate foil, and transparent paper. And I added a variety of embellishments: chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, stickers, alphabet stickers, paper flowers, and sequins. As a special detail, I sewed lines onto the leaves with my sewing machine.

 

 

To start, I cut leaves in different shapes from patterned paper and also coordinating leaves from acetate foil and transparent paper. I used cut-files and a cutting machine. You can also download ‘leaf’ templates from the Internet, transfer them onto your paper with a pencil and then fussy-cut the leaves with your scissors. The leaf below is made from patterned paper and a sheet of coordinating transparent paper. I glued the embellishments onto the transparent paper. And then, using my sewing machine, I added a few lines to attach the decorated transparent paper onto the paper leaf. The decorated leaf looks nice on the front of a plant pot.

 

 

Another idea is to create a ‘shaker’ leaf. To make the shaker leaf, I used a paper leaf and an acetate leaf. First, I placed sequins and other embellishments onto the paper leaf and then glued the acetate leaf onto the paper leaf. In a final step, I added sewn lines along the edge with my sewing machine.

 

 

TIP: You can also add titles or messages with alphabet stickers as shown in the photo below.

Fall Cards with Enza Gudor

Hello, Crate Paper fans! It's Enza, and today I'm back to share a set of cards using Boxed Cards and Stationary Pack from the Heritage collection. Fall is here, and this collection is perfect for any projects inspired by this beautiful season.

The cards I made for this post feature clusters of leaves and muted colors, warm sentiments and nostalgic embellishments.

For the first card, I used the tag and sleeve set that comes in the Stationary Pack. The woodgrain pattern on the sleeve and the gorgeous floral tag scream autumn to me, so I thought it would be perfect for what I had in mind. Although this isn't the traditional format for a card, it can be easily used as one – the tag is big enough to fit a handwritten note on the back.

I started with the tag. After layering ephemera pieces and some stickers, I die cut a branch from patterned paper that coordinated with the flowers on the background and adhered it on top. I then added a puffy sticker sentiment and finished it all with a gold glitter butterfly.

For the sleeve, I again used a die from my stash to cut the branch. I wrapped the super cute bow washi tape around the bottom portion before I adhered three paper roses and the “Happy Fall” title on top. A combination of lace and satin ribbon finished the tag.

The second card features one of the Boxed Cards that come with the collection.

I love the polka dot pattern – it's playful and fun. I added a note card from the Stationary Pack onto the base and created a cluster of leaves in the bottom left corner. I adhered a fussy cut flower and a gold glitter butterfly on top, using foam adhesive for dimension.

A quote from the Ephemera Pack worked perfectly as my sentiment. I finished the card with a puffy sticker bird in the top right corner.

For the third and last card, I also used one of the Boxed Cards as my base.

My idea was to keep the floral theme throughout the layers, so I trimmed some floral patterned paper to adhere onto the card base, which also featured a similar background. The third layer was created with one of the pre-made frames in the Stationary Pack. These frames are perfect for creating shaker pockets. Here I filled it with leaf sequins and a sentiment card from the Ephemera Pack. I then embellished it with leaves and a flower. I also added the super cute bow at the bottom of the frame and machine-stitched the edges for more texture.

Halloween Advent Calendar DIY

For all the lovely Halloween fans out there, this project is for you! Since it is (finally) October 1st, we thought it would be fun to share a little Halloween countdown!

The month of October is full of all the wonderful fall activities including corn mazes, pumpkin patches, yummy treats, and the leaves changing color! You can use this advent calendar in a variety of ways, but one idea is to place different fall activities in each day, so as you countdown for Halloween, you are filling your month with wonderful plans and memories!

Begin by cutting out the little calendar squares on the Pumpkin Spice paper. Then, back the square with a coordinating paper from Hey Pumpkin and create a pocket by gluing just the edges. 

 

Once your pockets are done, arrange them in order on the black felt and start sewing! Begin with the vertical stitches and then switch and to the horizontal stitches. Last, add the details! We added a dowel, some fringe and ribbon, and even used a cute skeleton ephemera piece to move day by day as we countdown! Once youre done, hang it up and keep it for years to come. Don't forget to tag us when you create your own! #createwithcrate
