Hi friends! It’s Amber here, and I’m so grateful to be up on the Crate Paper blog today sharing a really creative Fall décor project! Can you believe we’re heading straight into Fall? This year has been flying by and I’m so thrilled to start breaking out all the warm seasonal decorations. I get so excited about Fall because it means the start of the Holidays! I can’t wait to share what I’ve crafted to celebrate and welcome the beginning of Fall.
One of the best parts of Fall, in my opinion, is decorating the home with warm colors and seasonal décor. So for this assignment, I decided I wanted to create some Fall décor!
Décor is fun to create because they’re projects you can use to adorn your home and display for all to see. It reflects your style and your personality too. Plus, anything handmade has that extra special element to it.
I wanted to make something to hang on my walls or display on shelves, so I gathered two 12x12 canvases and got to work! The Heritage collection by Maggie Holmes was so perfect for this project because the colors are warm and cozy. And since the patterned papers are already 12x12, they were so easy to adhere onto the canvases. Didn’t even have to trim them!
Before adhering them, I put them through my Silhouette machine. I used two different leaf cut files to create a leaf silhouette on each paper. Then I backed the base papers with another patterned paper so you can easily see the shape of the leaves.
After this, I adhered the papers onto the canvases using hot glue to make sure they stayed secure. To add extra texture and dimension, I trimmed strips of the wood grain patterned paper and adhered them – again, using hot glue – to the sides of the canvas. I feel like this added an extra warm and Fall touch.
Once this was done, I used washi tape to go over the side edges and corners of the paper/canvas. This helped bring everything together and make it look less choppy. I used hot glue again to make sure the washi tape stayed in place.
After that, I lightly embellished the front sides of the canvases. I’m so happy with how they turned out. Perfect for Fall wall décor to celebrate the start of the season!
Are you excited for the Fall season? If so, I hope you feel inspired by this simple yet creative décor project. There’s nothing more fun than getting crafty around this time of the year. Thank you for stopping by!
