Hello, Crate Paper fans! Enza here and today I’m sharing a project I’m truly excited about. It’s easy and oh so cute, and I think it’s perfect as a craft-with-your-kids summer activity.
There are a lot of tutorials online on how to make milk cartons. I’ve always wanted to make some as party favors but never got around to it. This year my oldest daughter is having a half-year birthday party at the pool and asked that we make these for her friends. We used the gorgeous Sunny Days collection, with bits and pieces from Flourish. I love how they turned out!
Here’s the full tutorial:
- Trim your patterned paper to measure 10.5x7 inches.
- Score the longer side at 2.5”, 5”, 7.5” and 10”; score the other side at 2.5”, 5” and 6.5”. Make sure to press down on the creases to help the box keep its shape.
- Cut the paper as shown below to create flaps.
- Use strong double-sided adhesive to hold the box together. Red tape works best here.
- Once the bottom is ready, shape the box by closing the opening.
- Embellish your milk cartons with a mix of die cuts and stickers. Here we used wooden cloth pins to keep the boxes closed, but it would also be a good idea to make holes at the top and pass ribbon through them or use shaped paper clips. To save time and make it simpler for the kids to put the cartons together, we glued the striped bows from the Sunny Days collection to the cloth pins before adding the cute charms, which are also an added touch and fun little present.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my process and will give these milk cartons a try. My kids and I had a blast working on them. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask in the comment section below.
Thank you for stopping by.
