Hi Crate Paper fans! It's Amber and as always, I'm so thrilled to be on the blog today. Today, I get to share with you all a very special scrapbook layout using a very special collection.
Maggie Holmes's new Heritage collection is simply stunning. Full of warmth and stemming from a heart for family & heritage. This collection encompasses the essence of savoring and documenting what truly matters - family.
It boasts a very different color palette than her previous collections, which has been a creative challenge for me, in the very best way! There are vintage icons that are still somehow...contemporary. I never cease to be amazed by Crate Paper and Maggie's ability to create collections that give the best of both vintage and modern.
I couldn't wait to create a scrapbook layout with it and I'm excited to be sharing it with you all today. Typically I start a layout by selecting my photo, and then the patterned papers I want to use. I fell in love with the wood grain paper as well as the pink and blue floral.
After deciding to use the wood paper for my base, I decided to trim a strip of the floral paper to use at the bottom of my layout. Then I fussy cut some flowers from the rest of the paper.
I created a floral cluster up at the top left corner. Additionally, I trimmed a strip of that pretty mustard yellow paper and used that to add a pop of color! If you don't know, yellow is my favorite color so I try to incorporate it in most of my projects if I can.
From there I mounted my photo on some white cardstock, and then added some of the gold page corner stickers! These added such a nice touch. I then arranged my photo and embellishments to resemble a photo wall. It seemed to create a cozy feel to the layout. And I loved how it made my photo feel connected or part of the "gallery."
The point was to emphasize that we are now a family, starting our our own family tree. After moving in together following years of long distance, and eventually buying our first home together, this collection seemed like the perfect avenue to document the beginning of our journey. That’s what inspired my title – Our Story Starts.
It was so fun and heart-warming to create this layout! There are so many incredible pieces that I loved playing with. These included the portrait charms and the gold butterflies! Heritage is such a beautiful collection and I can’t wait to create more projects with it in the near future. I hope you feel inspired to capture sweet moments with it too!
