If there's anything to know about me, it's that I love bright colors, sunshine, and lots of florals! The Sunny Days collection by Maggie Holmes is truly my favorite collection date because it encompasses all the beautiful colors, sunshine, and pretty florals. I can't go on enough about how gorgeous it is - and I've had the most incredible time creating with it!
And while it is very much a summery themed collection, it is still extremely versatile. That's something I absolutely love about Sunny Days. You can use it to document any kind of "sunny day" no matter what season it is. So I decided to use this collection to create a Spring bucket list mini album!
I don't know about you guys, but Spring is probably my favorite season! I love Summer too, but Spring time in Arizona hits the sweet spot. The weather is perfect. It's definitely not cold, but it's also not too hot for adventures like picnics, pool parties, walking the mall, driving with the windows down, mini golf, and all the other fun activities!
With this year feeling like it's already flying by, I want to make the most of this beautiful time of the year. I decided to create a mini album to serve as a "Spring Bucket List" to fill with lists of the adventures I want to have. And as I go through Spring fulfilling my "bucket list," I can also fill the album with the pictures documenting each adventure!
There are so many things I want to do this Spring. Most activities are pretty simple, but bring me such joy. And that's the most important thing! I'm trying to stay true to my word-of-the-year which is "Simplify" so I can enjoy the things that truly matter.
Since I wanted to create a mini album and add in pictures later, I needed to use a technique where I could freely embellish the pages and still have a place to tuck in photos as I took them. I loved the idea of incorporating envelopes and really wanted to break out my 1-2-3 Punch Board!
So I decided to go with a layered envelope technique for the pages! I plan to film a tutorial video in the future for it so stay tuned!
Basically what I did was use my punch board to create several envelopes out of my favorite patterned papers from the collection. Then I tucked and adhered the flap of one envelop inside the pocket side of another envelope. I made sure to arrange it so the pocket side of one envelope would be to the left, and the front side of the other envelope would be to the right. I repeated this process until I had my desired number of pages.
Each set of pocket (left) and page (right) represents a different Spring bucket list adventure I plan to have! Some of my favorites include a picnic in our new park, hosting brunch in our new home, going to the Botanical Gardens, and a mini golf date.
It was so much fun embellishing each page! The elements from Sunny Days are just perfect. Florals are always a huge favorite, but I love the little fruit chipboard stickers, the charms, the little bathing suits, Popsicles, bows, I love it all!
I embellished both sides of the pages, but on the pocket side (left), I tucked in ephemera with handwritten notes detailing the activity I want to do. And then as I go through Spring and document each adventure with photos, I can tuck those into the pocket side as well!
To tie the whole album together, I made a pretty cover made of more gorgeous patterned paper. I used the pink and yellow polka dot paper for the base, and then layered a strip of my favorite yellow floral patterned paper around it.
Then I added some of the pretty blue washi tape to the top and bottom all the way around. I had some ribbon that was the same color so I repeated this process and adhered the blue ribbon all the way around the album cover. This way I could tie a ribbon that would secure my album closed.
I then embellished the cover with more gorgeous ephemera, chipboard, stickers, and charms! My favorite sticker has to be the girl riding in her cute pink car, looking like she doesn't have a care in the world, just enjoying life. That's how I want to go through this Spring!
What kind of activities do you have on your Spring bucket list this year? I hope you feel inspired to create a crafty mini album to capture your Spring time adventures. It's a fun way to be intentional about doing things you love and documenting them along the way!
