Hi Ladies! It’s Flóra here today. I want to share my tips on how to begin scrapbooking. I know a big and empty 12x12 scrapbook paper can be very scary. You see beautiful inspirations on blogs and social media but yours doesn't look the same at all. I practiced a lot when I started scrapbooking and I did a lot of scraplifting. What is scraplifting? You pick a page you like and copy it or get the basic ideas from that page. I suggest you start with a total copy, keep the page and photo sizes the same. I also recommend using a collection with matching papers and embellishments because in the beginning it can be tricky to mix and match all the materials.
I chose one of my past layouts and remade it with the new Hooray collection. I love the vibrant and happy patterns and cute party animals. First I cut out frames from patterned papers and arranged them on my layout. I added black and white photos behind. Here is another tip. It's very important to match the color of the photo to the collection/material you use. Sometimes the colors don't fit, so just add a black and white filter and your photo will go with any color palette.
I created the embellishment clusters on the same places like on the original layout. I placed the title also exactly the same. I really love all the fun Hororay stickers. How cool is the ostrich chipboard sticker and the yummy cakes. You can't go wrong if you use pieces from a collection as everything coordinates. The color palette and the design is the same so the result will have a harmonic look.
I hope my tips will encourage you to make your very first scrapbook layout. Check out the Crate Paper blog or Instagram and choose a layout you like the most and scraplift it! Thanks for stopping by here today! Happy crafting! Flóra
