CP Notebooks: Handmade Journal Tutorial

Hello, crafty friends! How about handmade journals for our project today? They are fun and easy to make, and came together in no time. It took about fifteen minutes to make one, and I couldn't stop. It's addicting!

The first thing you want to do is gather your supplies:

• printer paper
• Willow Lane 6x8 Paper Pad
• paper piercer
• needle and thread
• embellishments.

The 6x8 Paper Pad is the perfect size for these notebooks; they are big enough for your everyday lists, notes, journaling, but also small enough to take with you anywhere. I started by trimming seven sheets of copy paper to measure slightly less than 6x8 inches – I wouldn't do more than seven sheets, as it gets harder to get even edges. I folded them in half, and did the same with the cover.

With the help of a magnetic cutting mat like the We R Memory Keepers one, I was able to keep copy paper and cover together, and mark even spots for the binding. I then pierced through all the pieces at once, making sure to avoid any shifting of the papers.

Next, I used colored embroidery floss to attach the pages and the cover together, making sure to hide the knots on the inside of the spine.

I created some mini tassels to attach to the twine that I used to keep the journals closed.

For the closure, I simply punched a hole on the front cover, about ¼” from the right edge, wrapped twine around a brad I placed in the hole, and went around the notebook a couple of times.

Here are the finished journals. I created different covers, from very simple to a bit more time-consuming, like the washi tape one. I truly enjoyed decorating them.

CP Notebooks: Travel Journal

Hi Crate Paper Fans! It’s Flóra hare today sharing my Traveler Journal I created with Maggie Holmes – Willow Lane collection. I wanted to make a traveler note book sized album for only good vibes, nice thoughts and memories. Therefore I made a super cute design using many lovely stickers and other embellishments from the collection.

I used  the Sweet Rose Paper as base. Love the simple chevron pattern! First, I placed a Journaling Ephemera, over a cute Chipboard cat. Next to it a fussy cut house from Cottage Paper. Photo: 5.9.2018-traveler-journal1

I added some Cardstock and Puffy Stickers on a Journaling Ephemera. I wanted to add more details or elements so I fussy cut gorgeous butterflies from Flutter Paper and adhered them on the top and bottom of the cover. I cut out only teal and yellow butterflies as they coordinate with the cover color palette.

In the end I added the notebook into the binder and decorated the pockets with more cuteness. I love the happy result and can't wait to fill it inside with more happiness. Thanks for stopping by here! Happy crafting! Flóra

CP Notebooks: How -To Mini Notebooks

Hello CP friends! Today I'm a sharing a very super fun tutorial on how you can make mini notebooks in a short time! Let's start...

You sure need very little supplies to make one of these mini notebooks. They are patterned papers, A4 papers, a sewing machine (or hand stitching), washi tapes and embellishments for the cover.

Use your paper cutter and trim your 8.5" x 11" paper in half. I trimmed about seven pieces at a time with my paper cutter. You are trimming the long side in half. Just fold the papers in half & you can see how your pages will be. Use the pages to measure how big you want your cover to be. I left about half inch or so around every edge between the pages and the cover. Next, trim the cover to size.

After stitching the middle part of the notebook, I used washi tape to cover the stitches. To give a "book binding" feel. Some I left the stitches as it is which is quite nice too!

Here are the completed mini notebooks. They are so fun to make and pretty cute too!
