Hello there! Enza here to share a new project that is useful and easy to make, perfect as a back-to-school gift for the students in your life or their teachers.
My daughter loves school supplies (and so does her mama), so I thought it would be cute to make her a pencil holder using the gorgeous Willow Lane collection – I actually made two, so she can pick one and the other will be for me. Ha ha!
Here is what you'll need:
- a tin can
- strong double-sided adhesive, such as Red Tape by American Crafts
- patterned paper
- embellishments
I started by measuring the length of my tin can and cut the patterned paper accordingly. I used double-sided adhesive to adhere one edge to the tin, and went around covering it completely; then secured it with more double-sided tape.
For the first pencil holder, I fussy-cut a strip of paper from the Bright Days patterned paper and glued it in the middle portion of the can, while to create a border at the bottom, I used the super cute Star Decorative Trim.
I then went to town with the embellishments. Butterflies, hearts, a sentiment, and that cute girl from the 6x12 Sticker Sheet, gave the pencil holder a fun and pretty look. Everything was adhered down with foam adhesive, just to create a bit of dimension.
The second holder is much simpler in terms of decorative pieces.
I simply fussy-cut the Cottage patterned paper and adhered the houses all around the tin. I love all the different colors and shapes; they create the perfect border. The only other thing I added was a sentiment that covered the entire circumference of the tin.
I had a lot of fun making these pencil holders together, and I'm sure they'll put a smile on my daughter's face.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a lovely day!
