CP Craft Club: Table Setting

Inspiring your friends or family to spend time crafting, scrapbooking, making cards or getting artsy is a wonderful thing!  I have hosted numerous crafty afternoons for friends and years ago I taught painting and art journaling classes.  Some of us love to collect pretty things, tools, and supplies, so it makes it easy for us to share some of the "goods" for an afternoon of fun!  It can be intimidating to get crafty for some people and a craft club day can show your friends what they need and let them experience the pleasure of making something!

My crafty pals are going to make cards using the Maggie Holmes Boxed Cards.  The box comes with 40 cards & envelopes, and the designs are a wonderful compliment to the brand new Willow Lane Collection by Maggie Holmes.  The ready to go cards make it easy to get right to the fun part - decorating!!

I used Willow Lane to decorate for my craft club party paired with vintage linen and vintage glass baking dishes and assorted ceramic bowls to hold embellishments.  I fussy cut a whole sheet of butterflies from the Flutter paper to have ready to use!

The washi tape sits with the Let the Good Times Roll card in the stand.  I couldn't help but think that was cute :)  I added twine and buttons and other bits and pieces to decorate cards.

A 12x12 paper makes the perfect placemat for the crafty setting and can be used during the party!  Part of the fun of setting up a craft party is the preparation and having the area look cute and inviting!

Everyone got their own adorable animal for the day!  The name tag items are lightly adhered so that the embellishments can be used on the craft!

It is a great idea to pre-select a few ephemera items for the cards to set at each area.  This takes some of the stress of knowing what goes together out of the crafty pals decisions!  I added the heart washi tape to the clothespins for a custom touch and to keep items together.

Craft Club: Invitations

Hi Ladies! It's Flóra back. Have you ever organized a crafty club?  Well, today I am sharing two craft club invitations. Maybe after this post you will consider hosting one.

Basically you can use my idea for any party invitation. I picked the lovely Maggie Holmes – Willow Lane collection to create these A2 gatefold cards.  I trimmed 5 ½ x 8 ½  inch card base and scored at 2 1/8 and 4 ¼  and 2 1/8. I covered the front with patterned paper and decorated it with fun embellishments.

I fussy cut cute critter faces from Friendship 12x12 Patterned Paper and adhered with foam tape. I also fussy cut pretty houses from Cottage Paper and added on the right. I added foam sticker cups and the left and tiny star stickers around. On the top I created the title using the Cheerful and Picnic Alphabets. I love the little clear stickers from the Waterfal Sticker Pack so adhered one to complete the title. The lovely flower is from the 6x12 Sticker Sheet. I completed my cluster with Flourish Fringe what I found on Standout sheet.

Inside I added the invitation text. I kept it very simple and clear as the cover is heavily decorated. I edited the text in a program and printed out at home. I really love the cute result. The Maggie Holmes – Willow Lane is the best choice for any crafty party.

Craft Club: Craft Tutorial

Hi Ladies! Have you ever been to a craft club at your friends or host a crop yourself? One of my favorite things in the world is to get together with my girlfriends and work on scrapbooks.

It's a great opportunity for friendly conversation, artistic inspiration, as well as a time to be productive. When I invite my friends to a crop, I always start with choosing the project we will create together. I usually choose something that doesn’t requires special equipment or scrapbook supplies, and my guests can use their stash to create the project in your own style.

In my experience, the star of the scrapbooking clubs are always mini albums! They are so fun to put together and when we are ready with a base, we could fill them with photos later at home.

This flip book is a good sample of our craft club projects.

To create this flap book, start with gathering the supplies you would like to use. I decided to use the beautiful Willow Lane collection and picked a cardstock, patterned papers, ephemera pieces and some standouts for my album.

Next trim the cover and the pages. Use cardstock to create the cover. I used the gold foiled specialty card stock from the collection, its strong enough to be used as a cover.  The size of the cover is 6x8½”. Fold the cover by 4 ½“and 5 ¼ “.  Then trim 6 pieces of pattern paper for the pages in size 4x3”. Score every page by ¼” on the top. If you want to use ribbon to keep your album closed, cut an extra pieces of paper in size 4 ½x6”. Adhere this paper to the inside of the cover, and place the ribbon between them. Adhere the pages to the inside back of the cover. Use double sided tape on the top and align them underneath each other.

The left side of the album is so easy to create! The journaling ephemera pack contains pretty paper pockets which are perfect to create interactive surface to your mini album. To add a touch of fun of my album, I folded in half a paper pocket and adhered horizontally into the album.

Finally, I spiced up the spine of the cover with washi tape and added a cute pom-pom from the standouts sheet.

Home Organization: Chore Chart

Hey there again! I'm so glad to be back here to show you this little fun project that I did for my eldest. She has always loved helping around in the house. I certainly think it is probably the best time to make her a chore chart so she can follow through a routine. And what better way to whip out Maggie Holmes Studio Magnet collection to do the job!

For this project, I chose 10"x14" Magnet Board. The Kids' Chore Chart kit fitted perfectly onto the board and setting this was a breeze. I laid the cling sheet as my base onto the board and followed by the task magnets that were included in the kit too. Those cute little to do magnet indicators (asterisk and stars) are also provided. After the title was set up, the board looked a little empty. 

The right side of the board has this narrow space and it was just perfect to decorate it with my daughter's name with the gold alpha magnets and some cute embellishments. I quickly grabbed Maggie Holmes Willow Lane foam stickers and just added all the fun elements to fill the gaps. Just too cute!

I really loved how colorful the chart looked! I also added some word of encouragements like yay, good vibes only, wonderful - just to cheer my daughter to complete her daily chores. Those cute magnetic sentiment words were just so easy to use too. Perfect to fill the gaps! 

 

I just loved this chore chart, perfect for my little girl. And I can't wait to add more chores as she goes along! Perhaps I could change the embellishments around for new fresh look too.

Home Organization: Weekly Planner

Planning weekly activities is more fun with a handmade activity planner chart. I grabbed patterned paper, stickers and ephemera pieces from the brand new Willow Lane Collection and a chart board from my stash. Come and join me for some planning fun.

First, I designed a clean and simple activity planner with a word processing software. (Click here to download it) To add some layers underneath the planner, I cut two patterned papers and placed them underneath the planner sheet. I used a tape runner to attach the paper layers onto the chart board.

And now the fun part started: the decorating. I framed the activity planner with flowers, cute standouts and a variety of stickers from Willow Lane. I took great care not to overload the chart board. Adding just a few beautiful embellishments can make all the difference.

 

I'm really pleased how my planner chart turned out. It's fun to look at. And planning weekly activities is more artsy now.

First Day of School: Card for Teachers

Hi Crate Paper Fans! It's Flóra here today and I am sharing two cards made with the new Maggie Holmes – Willow Lane collection. I thought would be fun to show you an inspiration what you can easily make with your kids. They can surprise their favorite teachers on the first week of school with excitement and as a thank you. 

The card size is A2. First, I trimmed a base and then added a cover using Willow Lane patterned papers.  I cut out a circle with die cutting machine and circle die. Also cut a scalloped circle to create a pretty frame. For the first card I adhered a cat from Ephemera pack. She looks like a nice and friendly teacher in this lovely dress. I decorated her with a flower and heart puffy stickers. The title was created with Chipboard Thickers and Alpha Stickers. Inside the circle I added a fussy cut house what represents the school.

The second card is very similar just used different color palette and title. I love the cute panda, so she even got a crown sticker and a puffy heart as well. Inside, I added a phrase die cut and decorated with puffy faces what reminds me of students.

On this last photo I wanted to show you how does it look when you open the card. Inside is the circle with decorations. You can write your wishes and greetings around the circle with a black pen. It will  look amazing.

First Day of School: Layout

I was so super excited when Willow Lane by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper arrived in the mail!  The collection is so sweet, and the patterns are gorgeous!  I love all the sweet little characters, and I especially love the folk art unicorn!  I picked out the sweet panda bear and the unicorn for my back to school layout!

I started out with a white background and splattered some Heidi Swapp Gold Colorshine around the edges.  I used one of the big cards from the Melody cut apart sheet and the black envelope from the Journaling Ephemera pack to start out the grid with my 4x6 photo.

To balance out my grid design, I added the "you are loved" ephemera with a fussy cut panda prize ribbon from the Friendship paper.  I backed that cluster with a piece of the Happy Times paper so it would be the right size for the grid!  I added dimensional adhesive to the panda so she would pop up in the cluster.

To decorate the black journaling pocket I fussy cut a sweet little house from the cottage paper.  Hannah has always done homeschool, so that represents where she goes to school!  I added a strip of white card stock for my journaling and then the adorable folk art unicorn!  The journaling card slides out of the pocket and is a great spot to add a longer story or tuck in more photos!

To add some extra interest and dimension to my layout I fussy cut butterflies from the Flutter paper.  I love that the Willow Lane collection includes the pretty lavender color!  I decided to use just the blue and lavender butterflies to accent the ribbons on the panda portrait.  The butterflies tie all the grids together and add lots of movement to the page.  I enhanced the butterfly spots with little gold puffy hearts from the Flourish collection to finish it off!

It feels like just yesterday that I was taking these photos!  My girl is starting Grade 10 this fall.  Time flies and I love being able to make these memories come alive again with the beautiful designs that Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper create!

First Day of School: Photo Op

Hello again CP friends! It's that time of the year to take that official photo with the first day sign! I sure have that bittersweet feeling seeing my eldest daughter growing so fast before my eyes. This year she has turned 5 and she is in the reception class. 

For today's project, I just knew I had to use Maggie Holmes Willow Lane collection. This collection is so SUPER CUTE with a hint of whimsical! What's not to love about it! When I was browsing with the products, my mind just went crazy! I really wanted to use so many products on this board but I had to refrain myself from doing so. Haha. 

Firstly, I used a piece of a pretty pink patterned paper as my base. Then, I used the thickers and positioned them so that I can have an idea how I would like to add the rest of the embellishments. I knew I wanted to highlight the word "reception" & I went with the colorful alphabet among the pink ones. I absolutely loved it! Next, I just used die-cuts and some standouts to fill the gap. I will just positioned them first, once I'm happy with how everything look, I will adhered them right down. 

To highlight the word "reception" further, I stuck the colorful alphabet onto a light brown patterned paper, just to make it stand out a little more. I also used a pencil to lightly draw all around the alphabet just to darken the lines, hoping that it will stand out even more! 

 

Adding the standouts really sure added alot of textures and dimensions throughout the board.  Don't you just love it? I just love all the cute animal illustrations, perfect to add them too!

 

 Here's my girl proudly holding the board. Hoping that she will have a great reception year before she enters Year 1 in 2019.
