Adding a Unique Touch to Cards

Hello! Lorilei here today sharing some handmade cards with unique titles! The Flourish collection has so many possibilities to have a play on words for titles for your cards or layouts. I put the Flourish 6x8 card making pad to work with these cards, so simple to just select a paper and score down the middle and fold and you have an instant card base to decorate!

My first card features the lovely lemons in the Flourish collection, I just had to use the “When Life Gives You Lemons” sentiment! I started with the Lemon Paper for the card base and I fussy cut lemons from the Ponderosa paper and used the lemon branch from the Puffy Stickers. To make the title pop I used both the metallic alphas for loads of bling and stitched through the titles for added interest and texture!

I wanted to make sure I had plenty of dimension on this card. I popped the tag up with cardboard and added foam sticky dots to the fussy cut lemon branch and also the puffy sticker.

For my next card, I chose the pink with green roses paper as it perfectly co-ordinated with the square xo card. I wanted to do a play on the all the xo’s I found in the collection. The gold puffy stickers are gorgeous and I layered them on top of the little square card from the Memorable cut apart paper. I added yet another xoxo at the bottom of the tag from the card stock sticker sheet, the recipient will hopefully feel all the hugs and kisses!! I added a bit of typing to further support the title theme!

The pretty butterfly from the Standouts was the perfect final touch for the card!

It was fun to see what titles I could come up with, whether you use unique items or a unique phrase or words, it really does give your cards that extra special and custom-made touch!

Creating the Perfect Oversized Title

Whenever I approach a new layout, the title is usually the last thing I place on the page. I am not very good at finding creative and fun ways to describe a photo, so I use what I have on hand, such as die-cuts, sentiments, and sometimes cut files to make up for the lack of imagination. LOL! The challenge for this week was to create a layout with an unusual title. It took me a bit to decide what I wanted to go with, but I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I am a big fan of tone-on-tone looks, as they emphasize colors and design, so I picked this option for my layout. After choosing photo and sentiment, I used my die-cutting machine to cut the title out of the gorgeous watercolor paper from the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection. I chose three different fonts and sized them in a way to create some variety throughout the page.

I wanted the words to be sturdy and thick as chipboard stickers, so I cut each of them three times out of white cardstock and adhered them together. The top layer is, of course, the patterned paper. To create some contrast with the background and make the title stand out more, I offset it a little to show the darker patterned paper underneath. It really makes it pop.

Once I had the background ready, it was just a matter of finding a place for photo and embellishments. I fussy-cut some florals that coordinated with my color scheme, and arranged them behind the photo, as well as on top of some of the words.

To lighten the page up a bit, I decided to use die-cut white leaves to back the floral clusters. I also added some gold puffy foliage here and there, and fussy-cut butterflies. Again, I matched the colors to the patterned paper to continue the tone-on-tone look. Most of the embellishments were adhered down with foam adhesive. I really like the dimension it adds to the page.

I finished the layout with sentiment sticker that I stapled on one of the roses at the bottom of the page.

Unique Titles Week

Hi Crate Paper Fans! Spring is almost here, therefore I am in floral mood. The Maggie Holmes Flourish Ephemera+ pack contains so many gorgeous flower die cuts, so I decided to highlight them on my recent layout. I find a long vellum title in the Ephemera bag. This beautiful, unique phrase needed to be in the focus, so I built up my entire layout around that title.

I chose Rose Garden Paper for my background. I love the soft pattern and color, best for all kind of themes. I adhered the title on it with Sticky Thum tape. This is what is recommend for vellum embellishments because it is transparent and really strong. Next, I placed my photo. I completed the title with small Phrase Stickers. They fit together perfectly.

Over the title I created a flower cluster from floral die cuts. I cheer up the bouquet with golden puffy leaves from Recollection Thicker sheet. Next to the title I adhered a huge pretty die cut butterfly with foam dots.

Under the title I created another bouquet. I found a similar black and white butterfly on 12x12 Chipboard Sticker sheet. I glue it along a puffy house. I also scattered golden rose Thickers here and there. Love how the brackets frame the title. You can find more vellum words in the Ephemera pack. It is fun to work with them, you must try.

Decorative Hang Tags for Easter

Get ready for Easter with some fun and easy homemade decorative hang tags. Cheerful colors, Spring flowers, ephemera pieces and cute chipboard stickers from the Flourish Collection are combined to create gorgeous Easter table decor. Be inspired to celebrate the season and fill your home with joy with handmade pretty hang tags.

Here are some ideas for you how to make decorative hang tags. Combine floral ephemera pieces with lovely butterflies. Use journal cards as a base and add layers of chipboard stickers and word stickers. Finish off the tags with golden thread and attach them to flowers or small glass bottles.  

Use one of the wood veneer frames, back them with patterned paper and add stickers as decorative elements. A crop-a-dile or any other small hole punch will work just fine on the wood veneer frame to make a hole.

You can also combine floral elements with the cute Easter bunny or the squirrel chipboard sticker from the Flourish Collection.

The hang tags will look great on your table when combined with wooden or glass elements.

And the good thing, the handmade hang tags have enduring beauty and can be reused for next year's Easter decoration.

Easter Fun with Jessy Christopher

Hey CP peeps! This week the highlighted theme is Easter. I love celebrating Easter, a reminder of God's love for us. And of course admiring all the cute decor details too. I also love that I get to play with floral patterns as well while creating. With Easter in mind, bunny images came to mind. So today, I would like to share with you what you can do with these cute little bunnies I created with Maggie Holmes Flourish collection. 

To begin, I used a bunny head template and cut them out on patterned papers with my faithful Silhouette Cameo. I chose pastel colored lines and checkered patterned papers for the bunny heads to keep everything matchy and cohesive. Once that is done, I went ahead to add eyelashes and cute heart as noses on them. Last but not least, I knew these bunnies would look cute with flower crown and yes, I was right they looked super stinkin' cute with one!

These bunny heads can be used in many ways if you are holding an Easter party or get together. It can be used as prop on the decor table. Just stick the bunny heads to the satay sticks and voila, it could enhance the featured table instantly. 

You can also use them on party favor bags just like what I did. I layered it on top of a doily paper for a feminine touch. All you need to do is to add candies or little cute gifts as favors for your little guests.

Banner is another perfect way of using these bunny heads too! Don't they look so pretty in a row? 

This card was really fun to put together! I kept it simple by using mostly die cuts and enhanced it further with a standout sticker and a yellow flower chipboard sticker.

Create Easter Party Favors

Easter is fast approaching, and like almost every year, we'll have the family over to celebrate. One of the things I love to do is make party favors for our guests to take home. It is a way to thank them for coming and let them know how grateful we are they are in our lives. Today I am sharing a simple note card/envelope bag set and an embellished paper cone to fill with chocolate eggs.

I started with the flat envelope bag. I used a gorgeous patterned paper from the Flourish collection to die-cut the template. You can achieve the same look by adhering patterned paper onto a glassine or paper bag. I decorated it with a card from the cut-apart sheet, which I layered with dark patterned paper to separate it from the background, and an adorable mini tassel and some twine. I also added a pink paper tassel to the top right corner, and a fussy-cut flower as a bottom layer. Before adhering everything down, I placed a piece of gold floral washi tape all around the envelope for extra interest.

The coordinating note card is slightly smaller than the envelope. I layered a few patterned papers and secured them with some stitching. Again, I used elements from the cut-apart sheet; their size worked perfectly for this. I finished it off with decorative trim and pink ribbon, which I doubled up to make it more durable.

I tried to keep the same color scheme for the cone. I used gold patterned paper from the 6x6 Paper Pad, and embellished it with decorative trim all around the top edge. To bring in the same patterns, I cut three banners out of the papers I had used for the note card, and layered them with pop dots for dimension. I covered the top portion of the banners with a fussy-cut butterfly and sentiment stickers, and added twine underneath it.

Creating an Easter Layout

Easter is usually a snowy event at our house, hunting for eggs has been done in snowsuits! One year we did luck out and have beautiful weather and anytime that happens I am sure to be out with my camera getting lovely springtime and Easter dress photos! I had received some pretty pink carnations for that same Easter and I knew I had to use the gorgeous tag in the Flourish Ephemera Pack on my layout. The bouquet of carnations on the tag is so gorgeous and I used the tag as inspiration for choosing everything else for the layout.

I started out by adhering some white cardstock to the Perennial paper and then tearing the cardstock to show some of the darling posies beneath. I splattered a few colors of paint and then layered washi tape strips and papers to make a base for the photos. I stitched a few lines across the base for some added texture.

I really wanted to the bunny oval to stand out between the pictures so I layered a vellum oval frame with rose gold foil underneath the bunny then continued to add the layers of florals, fussy cut sprigs from the Anne paper and leaves. A puffy rose sticker on the corner of the bunny frame ties the pinks from my photo and the flowers on my daughters dress into the center cluster.

I tucked the carnation bouquet tag behind my second photo and layered a few word strips and my daughters initial on to the picture.

Fussy cutting the black leaf sprigs from the Anne paper took some time but it was well worth it for the pretty botanical feel they give to the page, I love the contrast they provide with the layers of florals! If you like fussy cutting I recommend cutting yourself a few sprigs for layers!

Easter Home Decor with Flourish

Hello Crate Paper fans! It’s Bea, and if you are like me, you find creating home decoration for Easter as enjoyable as painting eggs. I can’t imagine Easter without some colorful and bright handmade décor and the new Maggie Holmes Flourish collection is perfect for dress up your home!

My idea was to create some pretty flower cones to decorate our living room, and started the process with gathering all the supplies I needed for my project.

To create the base of the cones, I adhered a 12x12” patterned paper around a paper horn using strong double sided adhesive. I put plastic foil and floral foam in the paper horn, and stuck flowers into the foam.

It was so easy to create accessories to decorate the cones, I just needed to incorporate some of the beautiful Flourish embellishments.

I used embellishments like an oval wood frame, decorative trim and cute stickers to add some sweet little details to my decorative piece.

To add a touch of gold to the wood frame I used gold glitter glue on the pattern. I also created a paper rosette using patterned paper from the 6x8 paper pad, and placed behind the ‘All things grow with love’ cardstock sticker. The addition of pieces like these really add a lot of pop to my décor piece and give it a more dimensional and festive feel!

This flower cone was so super-fast and easy to make! I hope you enjoyed this Easter décor idea and that I have inspired you to make something like this using the Flourish collection to decorate your home this year!

Easter Cards with Flourish

Hi Girls! It’s Flóra here today. If you were searching the perfect material for Easter cards, I have a good news. You found it! The Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flourish continues many bunny embellishments, tons of florals and all spring thing. What else do you need the create stunning Easter greeting cards. Here is what I made.

For both cards I chose the Grandiflora Paper, which has pastel striped pattern. For the first I fussy cut a cute bunny from Memorable Paper. I created many layers under from tag from Ephemera pack, puffy golden wreath from Recollection sheet and Cardstock Stickers. On the top I gathered Ephemera and puffy flowers and completed them with gold leaves what I cut down from Decorative Trim. I love all the different textures. I add two bugs up and down. They are so cute!

For the second card I used an oval Ephemera piece with a black bunny. I highlighted with foam dots. On the left I added some phrase stickers. Behind the frame I layered many Ephemera and Sticker flowers. Once again I added Decorative Trim leaves and tiny flowers from Fleur Thicker sheet.

In the end, I made matching envelops with my We R Memory Keepers 123 Punch Board. This time I decided to embellish them with stamps from 6x12 Sticker pack and big labels from Provence Paper.
