Hello everyone! Enza here, and I am so excited to share with you my very first project for Crate Paper. Creating handmade gifts is one of my favorite things to do. I think that taking the time to make something unique and more personal for family and friends adds a special touch that is usually very appreciated. Today I am bringing you a birthday gift idea that was totally inspired by the gorgeous patterns in the Flourish collection. How about a bouquet of boxed paper roses to brighten someone's day all year long?
All you need to make this project is: patterned paper, a box (I got mine at my local craft store, but you can use anything you have on hand), floral foam or filler for the box, and ribbon. I started by choosing the patterned papers for the roses. I have tried different ways to create paper flowers, but I find that the rolled ones are the easiest to make. A digital die-cutting machine comes in handy for sure in this case, but there are lots of free templates on the internet that can be printed and fussy-cut. Same with the leaves.
Once the roses were ready, I moved on to the box. I picked the beautiful Charming patterned paper for the sides of the box, while the trim that goes all the way around the top is from the Always pattered paper. The idea was to make the box look like a basket. I also cut a square piece of paper from the 6”x8” paper pad to cover the green floral foam that I used to fill the box.
I used double-sided adhesive to adhere the sides and hot glue for the top panel.
Before gluing roses and leaves down, I made sure to arrange them the way I thought looked best. I also added some gold leaves from the Ephemera pack to bring in some “shine”.
I used pink ribbon to cover the seam where the two patterned papers met on the sides of the box, and added a layered paper bow and some Decorative trim from the collection as a final touch.
As a side note, instead of giving the box as a gift, you can decorate the lid the same way and actually use the box as a gift-wrapping idea.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my process and will give this project a try! Thank you so much for stopping by.

What a pretty project Enza! I adore making gift packaging. It's a gift all on it's own. :D Cheers, @kellymadeit
