Decorate for Valentine's Day!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I’m so excited to share with you what I have decorated with this vintage frame that was given to me few years back. The frame was in the box with all the other stash I was having until I saw it again. Thought it would be perfect to use as valentine decor in a corner. And what’s more exciting… I got to create with the super adorable Main Squeeze collection! All the heart eyes.

To begin, I traced the inner part of the frame onto the patterned paper lightly with a pencil. That would act as a guide for me to cut and adhere at the back of the frame. Next, I adhered the 'so sweet' chipboard sticker on the frame. So that would give me the idea what to paste all around the background paper. I chose the 'oh la la' and the 'guitar' die-cuts & stuck them down first. That would help determine the placements of the rest. And slowly worked my way from the top to the bottom by adding more cute embellishments.  

Absolutely adore the end result. I love just by keeping the colors red, pink, gold & white gave a very cohesive look to my project. And of course, these are the perfect Valentine colors! 

With the intention of choosing a subtle looking background patterned paper so that the embellishments & the colors will stood out. 

I love how classy & pretty it looked along with all the pretty embellishments. By using different embellishments like chipboard stickers and die-cuts will create interesting dimension. 

It's amazing how just only 3 type of products, you can create a stunning Valentine project!

Create Your Own Valentine's Day Wreath

What’s Valentine’s Day without a Main Squeeze…the Main Squeeze collection from Crate Paper, that is!!  This is a fun collection for documenting “love”ly layouts or creating fun home décor for Valentine’s Day.  I have a décor idea to share with you today, using Main Squeeze.

Clothespin Frames are very popular in home décor, so I decided to try my hand at making my own.  I picked up a floral craft ring at my local craft store to use for the shape of my frame.  You could also use a rectangular or square frame.  I started the frame, by cutting my twine pieces and then placing them on the back side of the craft ring.  I lined up the vertical and horizontal strings in the center first and adhered them with hot glue.  Once those two were in place, I added two more vertical and horizontal pieces of twine.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut heart shapes from three of the patterned papers from the collection.  It took 27 hearts to cover the front of the craft ring.  I placed the hearts end to end all the way around the ring and adhered each one with a touch of hot glue.  You could machine stitch through the center of your hearts, if you wanted to add some more texture to the project.

After all of my hearts were secure, I created a little cluster at the top of the frame.  I used some ephemera pieces to add a Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment, and embellished it with chipboard and a puffy sticker.

I finished the frame by clipping several ephemera pieces to the twine.  I always love the cute tags that are in the Crate Paper ephemera packs.  Tiny clothespins are perfect for securing the tags and embellishment to the twine.

This would also be a fun way to display your child/children’s Valentine’s Day cards.  You could also use this idea for a Valentine’s Gift, by adding a Gift Card to your sweetheart’s favorite store or restaurant!  I hope you’ll give this fun project a try!

Tell Stories on Your Scrapbook Pages

Hello and welcome to the Crate Paper Blog. I would like to share a multiple-photo scrapbook layout with you today. It holds 5 photos of different sizes. The photos tell the story of a wonderful day we had during a trip to the Harz Mountains here in Germany. And I used papers and embellishments from the Good Vibes Collection to style the layout.

Inspired by the cute pom pom frames from the Good Vibes Collection, I used pom pom trim from my stash to frame the large photo on today's scrapbook page.

To frame the photo, trim some greyboard and make it a bit smaller in size than the photo. Now, glue down the greyboard onto the back of the photo. Then add some double-sided tape around the edges of the greyboard. In a next step, glue down the pom pom trim onto the backside of the photo. Next, turn around the photo and pull the pom pom trim over the edges of the photo. Et voilà, you added a nice little handmade frame and a wonderful eye-catcher on your scrapbook page.

To finish the layout, add some word stickers from the Good Vibes Collection, some sequins and handwritten journaling. You can also add some stamped details to make the layout look more interesting.

Before Baby Layout

Hello CP fans!! This week we offer layout ideas to save your best memories. I created a 12x12 page with 2 photos, that I will offer to a friend who has just given birth. A little memory of her pregnancy before she starts scrapping photos of her pretty little girl.

To highlight these beautiful pictures, I chose white cardstock for the background. I think it's ideal for color photos and when you use printed papers with busy patterns or large embellishments.

The first step is to have superimposed 3 wide strips of printed papers on the left by choosing to put the flowery on top. I'm in love with this yellow, blue and pink floral paper. It fits perfectly with the photos and gives a touch of femininity, which is good, the baby is a girl! ;)

Then I put my photos and 2 big die-cuts, chosen in the ephemera pack. I stuck my title "Celebrate dream" and I slipped a nice clip on one of the photos. I added black and white epoxy stickers to give a bit of contrast.

As a final touch, I pasted little stickers on white strips of paper that I fixed at the top of the page on the left and I connected them all with the help of the sewing machine.

Hi Ladies! It’s Flóra here today. Just few days ago I received the most beautiful Maggie Holmes Flourish collection. Oh, I am so in love with every piece. Pretty flowers everywhere! It was so hard to decide which paper to use first time, but in the end a chose the Flourish Anne Paper. I was so inspired by this paper, I couldn’t resist to create a dichromatic layout.

I printed out a selfie what is almost 6 inch high. I created a beautiful cluster on the right side of the photo. I mixed different embellishments, like a vellum glass dome from Ephemera pack. I hang on the top of it two Tiny Tassels. I love these embellishments so much! I completed the cluster with flower and leaves die cuts from Ephemera+ pack. I also placed a sticker and Standout butterfly, some Puffy Gold branches and a black and white rose bouquet what I fussy cut from Goldenrod Paper.

For the title I used many different Thickers like Rose Gold Memo Alpha, Floral Alphas, 6x12 Stickers and phrase stickers from Flourish Cardstock Sticker sheets. They are all so pretty and wanted to feature them on my page.

In the end, I created a smaller cluster at the right bottom corner just to balance my page. Here again, I adhered floral Ephemera pieces and a Embossed Puffy Sticker bird.

Cute Cards featuring Flourish

Hello and welcome to the Crate Paper Blog today. I created some stylish cards with the amazing new Flourish Collection from Maggie Holmes. When I received the collection, I couldn't decide what I love most. The papers, the lovely ephemera pieces, the stickers, the washi and glitter tape spools, the beautiful embroidered bird patch or the golden decorative trim  - I just love everything about this collection. And I had a blast creating three different cards with Flourish.   

First, I selected three different patterned papers for the base of each card. The cards are 4x6" in size. The embroidered bird patch is definitely the star of the first card. I placed the bird patch on a pre-made tag and added a piece of the decorative trim at the top of the tag and also some of the word stickers from the collection. I took great care to match the colors of the bird patch with the colors of the other embellishments and papers I used on the card.

On the second card, I started from the bottom and worked my way through to the top of the card. And I added different elements and embellishments from the Flourish collection, including the decorative trim, two strips of washi tape and the cool flag-like ephemera piece showing two swans.

The third card is really elegant and simple in its way. And I like the dark background paper against the blue tag and the lovely floral sticker. I also added some golden highlights to make the card look really classy.

I really like how the cards turned out and I can't wait to send these to some dear friends.

Floral Layered Layout by Jessy

Hello again! I'm super excited to share this layout that I created with Maggie Holmes latest collection called Flourish. Absolutely love how this collection gives you all the feminine and classy feels but still fun! I also adore how this collection can be used in so many themes/topics.

Fussy-cutting is always therapeutic to me. One of my favorite go-to tool that is always nearby is my faithful precision scissors. I love being able to use Crate Paper patterned papers in fun and unusual ways and fussy-cutting is one way to do just that. I've also used fun elements from the new Flourish collection, specifically focused on the texture & dimension of the patterned papers and embellishments.  

I love layering and by doing so, it gives a lot of depth to my design and also a flow of all the elements together. I sure love that the photo of my beautiful daughters in the middle steals the show among all the beautiful floral around it. Adding the paper doilies sure give the elegant look I was going for too!

Adding other embellishment like stickers among the floral will create a 'fuller' design to your layout. 

At times, I love creating my layouts using minimal products. That sure challenges me to think out of the box and making do with what I have too!

Foam dots are one of my favourite supplies. By adhering behind your fussy-cut elements, it instantly creates the dimension that I wanted.

A Vibrant, Good Vibes Layout

Hi Crate Paper Fans! It’s Flóra here today with a brand new scrapbook layout created with the colorful Good Vibes collection. I don’t know what about you but I am in love with all the vibrant colors, cool paper designs and the cute llamas and lovely birds.

I instantly picked up the Serious Fun paper from the entire collection and decided to make a scrapbook page with it. Love the messy paint effect on it and the pretty pink and black and white patterns. I placed a 4x6 photo in the middle and embellished all around.

On the left I added a chipboard house along a puffy cactus and sticker flowers. Here I also adhered a cork star what I found in the amazing Ephemera pack. I placed half of my title above with foam tape and added beautiful chipboard and sticker flowers.

On the right I placed my oversized llama chipboard who wears a cute charm with awesome phrase. Under my photo I added the other half of the title: next to you and couple of fussy cut flowers. I cut out those from All Good Paper which is my second favorite.

On the top of the page I placed the tassel garland. Over, I stamped tiny black phrases with the Good Vibes Clear Stamps. I completed this section with Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams Button and another cork star.

In the bottom right corner I created a separate cluster using High Five Puffy Words, button, stickers. On the die cut piece I used again the Clear Stamps with black ink just to add more details.

How to: Showcase Many Patterned Papers

Hi CP fans!  I hope you are all having a Happy New Year!  I’m here today, with my first CP layout of 2018!  I love collections that can be used for everyday layouts and the Good Vibes collection is one of my new favorites!  It has so many great patterned papers, and I wanted to feature a lot of them on the layout I’m sharing today.

It’s always fun to use cut files when you want to work with several different patterned papers.  I cut a background heart design from White card stock and then backed the open spaces with 7 different papers from the Good Vibes collection.  This is a great way to use up scraps of your favorite collections, or a perfect technique with the 6x6 paper pads.  I alternated the patterned paper until I had all of the negative shapes filled.

Every once in a while, I like to work in a shaped photo, other than a rectangle or square.  Circle and heart shaped photos are usually my favorites to work with.  I decided to go with a round photo for this layout, since it was a close up of our daughter.  I printed it in Black & White, because I always love the contrast that it adds to a layout.  I placed the photo near the upper right corner.  Then I clustered most of my embellishments and title around the photo.  I love this look, when I create a cut file background, because it allows you to add your embellishments without covering too much of the background design.

I wanted to keep a clean and simple look on the layout, so I added one more cluster to balance the larger photo cluster.  I placed it on the bottom left side of the page.  I also adhered the ephemera piece with pop dots to add some interest and dimension to the cluster.
