Decorate for New Year's Eve with Crate Paper

Hi Crate Paper Fans! Today I am sharing some sparkling New Year’s Eve Decoration. I chose black, white and gold color combination for my project as this is so elegant and fits every New Year’s Eve party.

First I created a paper circle garland. I chose Maggie Holmes – Carousel Starbright and Rose Park Papers, which have black and white patterns. I added a gold glitter paper from my stash and punch out lots of circles. I sewed them together with a sewing machine. For this I used random white thread, but you could use black or even gold one.

I also created a banner from Maggie Holmes – Carousel Radiant Paper. I cut out 3x4 cards with LOVE letters. I punched holes on the top side right and left and reinforced the holes with black eyelets. For punching and adding the eyelets I used one of the most useful scrappy tool, We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile. I added next to big black letters numbers from Carousel Swing Alphabet to create love 2018 title. I also placed o every banner a black chipboard pieces from Maggie Holmes – Carousel 12x12 Chipboard sheet. In the end I strung everything together with Carousel Ribbon.

It’s really fast to create this kind of garland and banner. Even kids can help to make them. I hope you like today’s post and you find inspiration here. Happy New Year Ladies!

Capture New Year's Eve Moments

It’s time to say goodbye to 2017, and hello to 2018!  Do you have any fun traditions for New Year’s Eve?  We usually just stay in and watch movies or go out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants.  A few years ago, we took the kids bowling.  Our youngest had some “interesting” bowling moves, to say the least!  I thought it would be fun to document the photos with the new Good Vibes collection.  It’s got a little bit of a retro vibe, that worked perfectly with the Black & White photos that I used.

Since I was working with a collection, that didn’t have a New Year’s theme, I had to get a little creative.  I decided to create a large title that tied together the NYE theme and the bowling photos…and came up with NYE Ball Drop.  I cut the title on my Silhouette Cameo from the Passion patterned paper and then backed some of the letters with the You Rock patterned paper.  These papers created a great contrast with the Hashtag patterned paper that I used for the background, and added a masculine look to the page.

When it came to embellishing the layout, I used a mix of stickers, chipboard and ephemera from the collection.  Any time I use a large title, I like to layer my embellishments and photos over the letters.  I placed the photos at the top and bottom of the layout.  Then I created three embellishment clusters in a visual triangle on the layout.

I love to add visual interest to embellishment clusters with a mix of different textures, so I usually mix dimensional pieces with flat pieces.  I also like to mix cork embellishments or puffy stickers into the clusters too.  Pop dots are a great way to get even more dimension on your projects!

I hope you’ve been inspired today with some fun ideas for documenting your New Year’s photos!  It’s always a good idea to think outside the box, when it comes to themed layouts and photos.

Create Handmade Ornaments

Every year before Christmas I start asking myself what gifts I could give to my family and friends. And how to surprise them with something handmade. I decided to go for some diy ornaments this year. These can be used as ornaments to decorate the tree. Or they can be used to decorate presents. And did you know that the FaLaLa Collection is just perfect for making these handmade ornaments without major efforts? Today I would like to share two ideas how to make your handmade ornament gifts.

The delicate white snowflakes from the FaLaLa Collection are perfect to create handmade ornaments.

You can glue together two snowflakes and use thread and a wooden beads to create handmade ornaments to hang up on the tree.

The snowflakes can be decorated with cute little stickers from the FaLaLa Collection and some white or golden sewing thread.

In addition to the snowflakes ornaments, you can easily create ornaments with a strip of patterned paper, the Wire Brush Trees from the FaLaLa Collection, some golden beads, double-sided tape, liquid glue and thread in different colors.

Cut a strip from patterned paper, use double-sided tape to glue together the ends of the strip. Take a golden wire brush tree from the FaLaLa and glue it inside the paper strip. Then add a hole at the top of the paper strip and use two beads and a colored thread to make a loop.

A Pretty Handmade Gift

Hello CP fans! Christmas is coming and it's time to finish our presents. I'm here today to give you a little idea of a handmade gift. Both personalized and very quick to do if you have last-minute gifts to make. You just need to find a frame you don't use, a photography and sit in your scraproom!

To realize this frame that I will offer to my grandmother, I cut out a textured white cardstock in the adapted size and I spread gesso in order to make a background with watercolor. When the gess-oh dried I prepared my page background with a pink mermaid marker found in Jane Davenport's brand at American Crafts. You can also use the pastel palette from the Color Reveal Collection by Crate Paper.

Before placing my photo I superimposed die-cut from the Good Vibes collection and stickers from the Carousel collection by Maggie Holmes. Then I stuck my picture and very pretty frame with yellow pompoms. I added the llama on the left.

I took a string of recovery that I placed around my frame on the top to hang additional embellishments with a small clothespin and give an original touch to the frame.

I stapled a die-cut on a label and added the puffy stickers "Oh happy day". On the pompom frame I added one of the many stickers of the sticker book of Maggie Holmes. I love this notebook because there is a very wide choice of stickers from the most beautiful collections of Maggie.

I hope this frame will give you inspiration for a handmade gift to give to someone close to you.

Handmade Christmas Cards by Ashley

There are a lot of options for sending out Christmas cards every year.  You can buy pre-made cards, send cards online, or send out photo cards.  But nothing beats a hand-made Christmas card!  The FaLaLa collection from Crate Paper is perfect for creating unique hand-made cards to send to your family and friends this Christmas!  I have two new cards to share with you today, using the collection!

I decided to go super dimensional on my first card.  The Snowflakes just popped out at me and I Iove that they have a pop dot on the back for immediate dimension on any project.  I started by covering my card front with the Twinkle patterned paper.  Then I placed three of the Snowflakes on the front of the card in a staggered pattern.  I love the contrast of the White against the Red background.

Next, I used one of the Ephemera Pieces for the sentiment on the card.  I added a bit of glue under some of the letters, so the word would adhere to the Snowflakes.  To bring in a bit more color, I placed a Button in the center of two of the Snowflakes.  I finished the card with a Christmas tree Paper Clip and a couple of stickers.

The second card has a more subtle look, than the first.  I used the Mistletoe patterned paper to create a softer background look for this card.  And instead of going with a lot of dimension, I kept things flat on this card.  Most of my embellishments came from the Ephemera Pieces.  I wanted to use the large Gold snowflake and layer the “25” embellishment over it.  You can still create great layers on your projects, without adding a lot of dimension.

I finished the card design with a few Puffy Stickers from the FaLaLa collection.  I used three different stars to bring some color to the card.  And I couldn’t resist adding the cute “ho ho ho” puffy sticker in between the snowflake and “25” embellishment!

It’s fun to create different style cards with the same collection.  You can send your flat cards through the mail, to friends and family that you may not see during the holiday season.  The dimensional cards are great for just handing out to those that you know you’ll be seeing at Christmas time, or you could use them to finish off some fun wrapping on your Christmas gifts!

Creating Christmas Cards

Hi Ladies! Today it’s Flóra here with a pair of new Christmas cards. I used the beautiful Falala collection to create them. Time is running out so I thought to show you some really fast made project. Creating these cards you can save lots of precious time!

The collection includes a big box of washi tapes which are perfect to use instead of patterned papers. I don’t know about you, but I always hoard washi tapes. My collection just keeps growing bigger and bigger, so it’s high time to pay some attention to these beauties and use them.

For the first, horizontal card I used a white card base and added many washi tape stripes. I didn’t use scissors, I rather torn them to get a messy look. I placed on it a white snowflake die cut from Ephemera pack. Then, I added the cute snowman from 12x12 Chipboard Sheet. Next to the snowman I added presents from 6x12 Stickers Sheet. In the end I added a gold star button to the snowman.

The second card were created the same way, but this time it’s vertical. I added a lovely deer chipboard and a mini christmas tree next to it. I decorated the top of tree with a gold glittered star.

It was super fast to create these card, but the result is outstanding. I love the bold red, black and green colors with a touch of gold. I hope you will create something similar with your Crate Paper Flala Washi Tape Set.

Holiday Home Decor by Laetitia

Hi everyone, today it's me who welcomes you on the Crate Paper blog! I'm very excited to start the holiday season and start preparing the Christmas decorations. It was impossible to realize my Christmas decoration without including the MAGNET STUDIO board and the gorgeous collection FALALA!

I love decorating the furniture of my living room according to the time of year. I wanted to make a  memo board to note things to do or prepare for Christmas with a beautiful decoration. I matched it with a metal tree found in a decoration shop by suspending above the pretty gold glitter garland MERRY & BRIGHT of the FALALA collection.

For decoration I first set the black and white magnetic background clings on the bottom and garland in the upper left. Then I glued magnetic tape on chipboards so I could use them on my board. I love them, they are too cute and I know that my daughter will be amused to change places and place where it seems.

I also used the christmas ball chipboards to add them to the garland. I also used a gold clip and glittering stars to hang a picture, my December checklist and a cute little card.

On my metal Christmas tree I added my favorite Falala die-cuts. I find the whole harmonious, especially with the golden garland. And I have not forgotten the little golden tree, so cute. I love them!

Decorate for the Holidays with Magnet Studio

Did you know that you can mix the Magnet Studio Collection with cute embellishments from the Christmas Collections FaLaLa and Snow & Cocoa to create a festive Season's home décor? Grab your magnetic board. And then mix and match a cute photo and washi-tape, die-cut stars and tassels from Crate Paper's Xmas collections with clings and stickers from Magnet Studio to create wonderful pieces of holiday décor.
