On warm summer nights we like to sit outside on our balcony to have dinner and to enjoy the warm air. When it gets dark, we like to light candles and tea lights. To have some cool-looking tea light holders that keep off the wind, I decided to make some tea light holders from vellum paper and using different bits and pieces from the Oasis collection.
To make the tea light holders, I cut three stripes from a piece of vellum paper and used leaves, stickers, small paper stripes, a button and a stamped vellum stripe for decoration.
In a final step, I used my sewing machine to create some wild sewing patterns and to secure the embellishments to the vellum. Then I glued the ends of the vellum stripes together with double-sided tape.
A few tips for the making: Use thicker vellum paper for best results. When using stickers for decoration, it's a good idea to sew them near the top, the middle and the bottom. That way they stick perfectly to the vellum. Before glueing the ends together with double-sided tape, gently roll each vellum stripe around the remains of a toilet paper roll to give the stickers a nice curved pre-shape. This makes it easier to actually have a nice cylinder in the end. To attach buttons, use strong glue (like Glossy Accents) or glue dots. The patterned paper stripes are best attached with double-sided tape. You can also try to use different sewing stitches, for instance a zigzag stitch to decorate the paper stripes.
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day!

Very FUNN project and I love the stitching!
Am I correct in thinking these sleeves will slip off easily to let you reuse the holder?
Good tip on the sticker rolling, very clever thought.
I hope you are having a wonderful day, too.
