Hi CP fans! It’s Ashley, and I’m here to share some ideas for getting your kids involved with crafts. My kids are usually always up for any kind of kids crafts, and they also love helping decorate for one another’s birthday parties. I’ve got a few easy party décor ideas, that your kids can help with, when you’re getting ready for a sibling’s birthday party. And who couldn’t use a little extra help, when you’re setting up to celebrate a special day!
Crate Paper has plenty of collections that will work for a masculine or feminine party. I couldn’t wait to work with the gorgeous new Carousel collection by Maggie Holmes, so this is definitely a party set up fit for a girly girl! Our girls are 11 and 9, and they always love to help with the goodie bags for a party. We created this cute bag, with a white gift bag that can be picked up in the dollar store or craft store.
All you need to do, is have your child cut the bag size down a bit, or make that a job for mom if your child is too small to help with cutting. Next, trim a piece of patterned paper to fit the front of your bag. We used a border punch to add a decorative look to the top edge of the bag and the top edge of the patterned paper. The finishing touch for the bag is super easy. Let your child choose one of the pieces from the Ephemera Pack and adhere it to a paper straw. Then you can attach the straw to the front of the bag. Complete the look with one of the Fabric Bows from the Carousel collection.
Another easy decoration, is a fun banner! Grab some Ephemera Pieces, twine and small clothespins. Your kids can clip each of the ephemera pieces to twine and then place the finished banner behind the party décor or in front along the edge of the table. And here’s a fun tip…once the party is finished, you can just unclip the ephemera pieces from your banner, and then use them in the layouts you create from the party photos!
One final touch for completing everything for the party, is wrapping the gift. The 12x12 patterned papers from the Carousel collection are perfect for wrapping a small gift. Kids love pretty papers, so let them decide what they would like to use to wrap the gift, and they can finish by adding some embellishing to the top of it. We created a bow on the Silhouette Cameo and placed a die cut flower and button from the Carousel collection on top of the gift.
I hope you’ve found some fun ideas for getting your kids interested in crafting! These are fun ideas, to get them involved in crafting for a party for their sibling, a friend, or maybe just helping mom out for party planning!
