Happy Spring Crate Paper friends! Today's post is all about pastels! There is something so beautiful about subtle muted colors. Lighter tones and sheer backgrounds are perfect for spring and card making!
I started off both of my cards by creating each one using a white card base. Next, I picked out a light shade of blue and pale pink paint from my personal stash. I used a 1 1/2 inch dry foam brush to paint each color onto the base of my card front. After the paint dried I began building each card. When making multiple cards In one sitting I like to pick a design that I can easily replicate. This makes the cardmaking process go so much faster.
Next, I chose a couple of patterned papers for each card that played off of the soft pastel colors. I used my scissors to fray the edges of the bottom piece and then used my sewing machine to stitch it down. I trimmed a second paper (slightly smaller than the first) and then sprinkled a few splashes of spray mist across each piece before adhering them down.
To embellish each card, I chose a few simple chipboard pieces that carried the theme of soft muted colors and then just added to each one. I love incorporating chipboard frames on my projects and I love that Crate always offers them in their collections. It's a simple technique but I feel that putting a frame around a few embellishments helps to bring it all together and complete the look.
I used buttons and phrase stickers to finish off each card. I also added a thin strip of glittered acetate to each card. I hope that you are inspired by my cards today and are tempted to try your own cardmaking using a soft palette.
