Hello Everyone! It's Andrea here and today I want to share with you a lovely fall layout about gratitude! This is the time of year when we reflect on all the things that we are grateful for. For me, the first thing that always springs to mind when I think about all that I am thankful for, this time of year and any other time really, is my husband! I am so grateful for my husband and our love. For this reason, I decided to make a layout about how grateful I am to have my super awesome hubby in my life.
I created the layout using fall leaf cutfiles that I designed myself and the super amazing Gather collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper. I cut the leaves from several different lovely patterned papers from the collection. I used a variety of colored patterned papers like the blue and white music paper, some peach patterned paper, and the minty-aqua plaid and royal blue gingham patterned papers, for example.
I used the cool “Happy Place” patterned paper, that looks like a kind of weekday planner chart, for my layout background. I thought it would work well for a background to all the colors that I was using with the leaves.
I took a photo from Ryan and I from a Thanksgiving a few years ago and I framed it with some layers of patterned paper and a chipboard frame sticker. To add something really special to the framed picture, I punched the chipboard frame with my Crop-a-dile punch, and added a couple of tassels to it with some thread.
I did a little bit of hand-sewing on my layout, to add a sweet “handmade” detail to the look of it (on top of some metallic washi-tape and a strip of patterned paper). For my title, I used the word “grateful” which I wrote myself and cut out on my die cut machine, using two sides of the “Beautiful” marbled style patterned paper from the collection. This gives a cool drop shadow effect to the title and really makes it pop. I think having a large title like this, sewn onto my layout, along with the drop-shadow style of it, really helps draw the eye to the title so that you see right away what the story is that I am trying to tell – one about gratitude. The photo, of my husband and I kissing, at the center of the layout, with the various colored leaves surrounding it on either side, and the little stickers on it that say things like “life is sweet” and “grateful for this” – all of these tell a further story about my being grateful specifically for my husband and our love, and also say that this is a fall/thanksgiving story.
I had so much fun making this layout and I think that I want to frame it and put it up for Thanksgiving-time. I love the idea of having décor up for this time of year that has vibrant, rich colors like the colors of the leaves on the layout. I hope that this has inspired you to make a layout about what you are grateful for in your life...and also maybe to use some fun colors and leaves like I did – all with the lovely Gratitude collection by Maggie Holmes!
