Family Layout

Hi everyone, it's Laetitia and it's my turn to present a project on the theme of family! I chose to make a page of course using the GATHER collection by Maggie Holmes. It's perfect for this theme. I designed this page for a friend who is very close to his two brothers with whom I often exchange creations.

As usual when I make a scrapbook page, I chose a white background using white cardstock. I stuck a large strip of paper printed mint that I covered with a little less broadband beautiful floral paper. I added on top of very thin edges of paper on which I glued a cardstock stickers.

Then I realized the central part of my page with the photo and title. For this I glued the center a black polka dot card I cut the paper SWEET LIFE and around 3 pretty frames I cut the paper MOMENTS. I added the title with a chipboard stickers and then some embellishments.

To the right I added the little hearts with a rub-on pen. I find this fantastic and very easy to use. I like to mix the materials and embellishments models. Embellishments are from the GATHER collection and clip bow of the CUTE GIRL collection.

In my page I added some golden keys to give a nice effect and I think it goes well with the mint and coral.

On the bottom of my page I cut lots of little strips of paper. I've stuck with a touch of glue before every set using the sewing machine. I took the opportunity to add sewing on the stickers sentence at the top of the page. Then for one last little detail I added the little chipboard #Smile.

This collection is ideal for making beautiful family memories. Feel free to capture your best moments with family and why not offer small albums a nice day.

Best Friends Layout by Karen

Hello, Karen here for Crate Paper. Family means a lot to most people & me. Sisters are most of the time (just kidding) the best of friends. My three girls really do love one another a lot, they do argue occasionally like all siblings do, but they spend time together daily & seek one another out for ‘play’ time. They definitely make me a proud mum. I used the ‘Cute Girl’ collection to bring together a layout to share with you centred on a black and white photo of my three beautiful girls.

To begin with I choose a 12x12 light grey paper called ‘Cheery’ for my background, next I decided on a grid format and cut up another 12x12 paper called ‘Sweetheart’. I love grid layouts & I create with this process 99% of the time.

Once I had the photo glued on I then used the Crate Paper cute puffy phrase stickers & placed them around my grid & added embellishments too. I always take my time doing this part; I don’t add glue until I’m happy with how it looks.

Another format I love to use is spattering paint once I’ve finished my layout. I used black on this one. Paint splatters are like the icing on a cake. It finishes it off for me.

DIY Wood Pallet Photo Display

Turn a wood pallet into a family photo display with just a few supplies!  Do you have a love for wood pallets like I do?  I have been collecting them in all sizes and shapes for years.  I have a whole bunch of ideas saved on Pinterest of how to use them in unique ways. 

I was in Target the other day and spotted this wood pallet in the dollar section (I love the dollar section) and thought that it would be the perfect size to turn into a photo frame. The whole idea behind this photo frame was to make something that can be easily changed out for seasons or holidays.

I started by gathering a few supplies – my pallet board, bull dog clips, tape measure, hot glue gun and glue sticks, a few small photos and bits and pieces from the Maggie Holmes Gather collection.  Next, heat up your glue gun and lay out the clips in the arrangement that works best for you.  Six bull dog clips worked best for me with the ephemera tags and pieces from the collection.

Next, use a ruler to evenly space out your clips – I used a pencil to mark where I wanted each clip to go and then applied hot glue to each clip using my hot glue gun.  Now it's time to decorate your piece!  I started by picking out the larger pieces that I wanted to use first (like tags, chipboard frame, etc.), and then chose smaller pieces (chipboard, Thickers, ephemera, etc.).  I added a my photos and a few pieces of lace and tulle to my board. 

I love how simple this whole project was, and I look forward to changing out the pieces for different occasions.

Create Birthday Party Banners

Hi everyone, it's Gina here today to share with you how I created a few simple party banners using papers and embellishments from the Maggie Holmes Gather collection.

There are all kinds of ways to dress up a birthday party with banners.  Inspired by some of the papers in the Gather collection I came up with a few DIY banners to hang at the event.  The first banner that I created was a ticket banner.  To create this banner, I just cut apart the tickets from the Best Day paper than used a sewing machine to stitch them together (leaving a little space between each one).

 

The second banner that I created was hand cut out of the Details paper.  Oh how I love all the different patterns on this paper!  I simply cut all of the pieces out and then used my sewing machine and white crepe paper to stitch them together to create my banner. 

The last banner I created was the party banner.  This one was really easy to make.  I used the WeRMemoryKeepers Alphabet punch board to cut out my letters.  Then I used a small piercing tool to place a small hole at the top of each letter.  I strung white string through and added mini tassels between each letter.

After all three of my banners were completed I draped them together for a fun layered look. I just love how they came out and I hope to enjoy them for more parties in the future!

Create an Oversized Title

Birthdays are one of my favorite occasions to celebrate! And it is the fave for my eldest daughter too. She still gets all excited whenever she sees a birthday cake, simply because she enjoys singing the "Happy Birthday" song. She is just cute like that! With that in mind, I decided to create a birthday layout just for her.

As always, I get my inspirations in many forms and one of them is by "studying" the products. When I was browsing the Cute Girl collection, I was drawn to this patterned paper called Rainbows. I absolutely love how colorful the stripes are. Somehow those stripes reminded me of piñata & thought it would be fun to create alpha piñata! Yes, that's how my mind works! Haha. And with that in mind, I instantly got an idea to hand-cut each alpha to spell  "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". I love to hand-cut alpha when I was in primary school and that brought back a lot of memories to me. Truly enjoyed the hand-cutting process & it's pretty therapeutic to me too :)

Once I'm done with the cutting, I spread each alpha & arranged them evenly to fit on the white cardstock. I love how the colors popped. The photo of my daughter blowing her birthday candles adhered in the middle row really made the photo stood out! And by adding the cute embellishments like chipboard stickers & accent stickers all around the photo added more fun & great dimension to the layout.

TIP: To make the hand-cut alpha stand out a little more, use a pencil or black fine-tip pen to trace the outer-line.

What I love most about this layout was I managed to create this layout in a short time and with minimal products. Perfect for a mama like me who has very little time on hand. Love how it turned out! I think I may need to frame this up :)

A Cool Birthday Card

Hello Everyone! It's Andrea and I am so excited to share with you today a fun little boy's birthday card that I made using the “Cool Kid” collection by Crate Paper! I have an awesome nephew, named Cole, who has a birthday coming up and I wanted to make him a really cool card that he would want to keep for hopefully years to come.

To make the card, I began by choosing some of the cool patterned paper from the collection to use to fold in half for the background of the card. I chose to fold the “handsome” patterned paper, however I folded the paper unevenly so that there would be a little bit of hangover on the right side of the card which shows the other side of the patterned paper (a cute little stripe) when the card is closed.

For the front of the card, I used a combination of cute embellishments from the “Cool Kid” collection. I decorated the front with a little piece of ephemera from the ephemera pack that says “boys will be boys”. I use that piece as my center and around it I use some other embellishments like a little arrow sticker, some star stickers (puffy and flat), an arrow that says “awesome”, a puffy sticker that says “little dude”, and a couple rubber shapes – an adorable t-rex dinosaur and a cute little puppy face!

I added a little decorative paperclip that I've made using a plain paperclip and adding to it a teeny flag of blue patterned paper called “brothers”...and with that the front of my card is done.

For the inside of the card, since it is a birthday card, I write in black script “happy birthday to you” and add some sticker stars and a fantastic paper airplane to finish things off. I love the way the card came out, with it's awesome little boy aesthetic! I tried to make it keeping in mind the kind of things that I thought my nephew would like, like the dinosaur and the puppy! I tried to also reflect Cole's personality with things like the “little dude” phrase and the “boys will be boys” because Cole is the kind of cool, strong and courageous little boy that is his own person, with a fun personality that is both super sweet and a little mischievous sometimes!

I love Cole so much and even though he is growing up more and more all the time (and I know teenage years are just around the corner, sadface), he will always be my sweet little nephew who loves video games and puppies and big hugs!!! Happy Birthday Cole!!!! And to all of you out there who have a special boy of your own to wish a happy day to, I hope I have inspired you to use the super rad “Cool Kid” collection to make a fun card for your cool kid!!!

Customizing Color Reveal Panels

Hi everyone!  It's Gina here and today I'm going to share with you how I am using the Color Reveal collection in my home.  These new watercolor prints feature color-resistant patterns, just simply add watercolors to transform!

I really fell in love with the “Magic Is Something You Make print”  as soon as I saw it.  I felt the quote was perfect for my creative space.  I used the Color Reveal watercolor set to apply light blue aqua colors to my print and then allowed it to dry.

After my art print was dry I hung it up on my new Craft + Office Storage wire grid panel using gold coordinating clips.

I love how simple it was to easily customize my print and I love how it brightens up my space in a happy way.

Color Reveal: Custom Notebooks

Hello there scrappy people! It's me, Andrea! Today I want to share with you some of the super amazing new Color Reveal notebooks by Crate Paper that I personalized into special journaling notebooks using some paint and a few Crate Paper puffy sticker words! I love to paint and I was so excited to see all the new Color Reveal goodies by Crate Paper! There are just so many cool things you can do with the products because you get to play around with paint and make each piece into a special art piece that is one of a kind and made just for you!

I especially could not wait to start playing with the notebooks that come in the collection. I have been wanting to buy some notebooks for a while now that I could use to keep some more personal journaling in. I wanted a notebook where I could write about things like my disability (my CRPS pain) and also a notebook where I could keep thoughts about my faith and my God who I know loves me and is helping me through all the pain! These are very personal things and I wanted a place to put these thoughts that I knew would be special, personalized and just for me. The “Color Reveal” notebooks are perfect for this kind of a personal journaling project!

For the notebook that I am going to use to write about my condition and the difficult journey that it is, I chose the notebook with the large gold foil triangle and I painted it with some guache paint (which is very similar to watercolors) and also a little bit of acrylic paint as well, in some of my fave colors right now. I decided to do a bit of a drip effect to the notebook just to add a little more depth and visual weight to the way I painted the rest of the notebook which is a lot more airy and lighthearted. I think this plus the  “be brave” puffy stickers that I added to the front of the book really help convey the tone of what is inside.

For my faith notebook, I chose the polka dot notebook, which I thought had a little bit more of a bright, happy look to it which I made feel even more happy by painting a fun rainbow effect to the notebook. I think this plus the puffy stickers that spell out “love” (and the heart) just really help to say what this book is all about – my love for God, who is love itself!

I can't wait to start journaling in these notebooks and I hope I have inspired you to grab some “Color Reveal” notebooks for yourself and begin a personal writing journey that starts with some super fun painting!

Creating a Hanging Print

Hi there, Karen here for Crate Paper. Have you spotted the amazing Color Reveal products that Crate Paper has recently announced? They are really clever and so easy to create at home. I had a lot of fun with this ‘Hello Love’ panel for my studio.

Begin by grabbing your watercolors, a brush & some water. You will need a clean space & maybe a placemat or plastic cover to protect your workspace. Decide on the colors you want to use, here I used three main colors from my Crate Paper Watercolor palette, pink, orange & yellow. Take the first colour and brush over the very top of the panel, using water then spread the color downwards. Change colors as often as you want, depending on the effect you want to see on the canvas/paper. A tip that helped me was to use a lot of water to obtain an ombré effect.

Keep going all the way down, adding more color then water. I love the way mine turned out. I can’t wait to give this another try. I’m loving this collection so much. Enjoy.

Using Craft + Office Storage as Decor

Hello CP fans! I'm extremely excited to show you my desk featuring the beautiful Craft + Office Storage items. I wish you could have heard me squeal when I opened the Design Team box! Lol. The CP goodies are getting better by the box. At the moment, I'm in the midst of packing my things to shift to our new house soon.  I just knew every piece of these storages would be perfect for my new craft room. For now, I'll share with you what I did with the storages on my current desk. 

Here's the front view of my desk. I love how the gold + mint go so well together! As you can see, these colors pretty much match with bright/pastel colors too. Don't you just love them even more? 

I absolutely adore this gold grid panel. It could be hung on the wall or you can just lay it on the desk, just like what I did at an angle. It is pretty stable by itself. 

The grid panel is really perfect to use for displaying your creations or storing stationeries. I used the medium wire bin to store my roller stamps, gold stapler and also some tapes. The Mason jar is perfect to store the cute pencils. To hang more items on the grid panel, you can use binder clips or little pegs in the embellishment jar from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. 

What I love about the paper rack is you can pull each shelf in and out for easy access to paper. How clever! And of course with this rack, you can now arrange your papers by collections or colors :)

Isn't this ceramic organizer the cutest? Perfect to store little ephemera & small embellishments. How practical! That small b&w checkered magnetic box is also great to use as part of your desk display or to store pretty trinkets/embellishments or simply use it to keep ready handmade cards/tags for that special one. 

Tips: I always love displaying the products on my desk so I'd use them on my projects. Having pretty little things on your desk will spark some kind of inspirations/ideas as well :)

This paper storage is not only awesome because it can store traditional scrapbook-sized paper and embellishments but it can also function as part of your desk decor. Love the color blocking! 

I hope you like how I displayed all these beautiful storage pieces. Most importantly they are perfect to keep my desk organized and accessible at anytime. The possibilities are endless with this collection! Thanks for letting me share today!
