Hello there, it’s Karen here today to share with you a scrapbooking layout using the Maggie Holmes ‘Bloom’ collection. The Bloom collection is full of gorgeous floral patterned papers, simple polka dots and stripes and the embellishments are really pretty.
I started with a 12x12-patterned paper; I love simple backgrounds and white with tiny black spots worked well with my photo, its important to me that the photo is the focal point of a layout.
To begin I added a few cut strips of patterned paper at the bottom of my layout at stitched them on with my sewing machine. Using scissors I then cut a fringe right along the bottom of the paper. Using your fingers ‘fluff’ the cut pieces of paper up-wards, this give the fringe some definition. The fringe hearts in Maggie’s collection inspired this. I then used co-coordinating 6x6 pattern paper layered under the photo with added stitching to the side and I used some of the die cut embellishments around the photo. I love all of the interest each of the embellishments bring to the layout, and how they balance the design, nevertheless not taking anything away from the focal point of the layout – the photo.
Next I added the mix of alpha thickers to the layout, I always have difficulty with this part in my creative process, and it has taken me a few layouts to get the spacing right, trial and error!
Thanks for coming by the Crate Paper blog, have a look around there is plenty of inspiration.
