Over the years it seems I've been downsizing my projects. I went from creating 12x12 pages to 8.5x11 pages... and now I seem to enjoy playing around with the 6x8 size every now and then. I think part of the appeal is that those pages fit so well into my pocket page albums so it's just a matter of one album and done.
But for whatever reason I think that it's fun to play around with sizes every now and then.
I started this 6x8 page by looking for a patterned paper that worked with my photo. My photo is pretty light and bright and I wanted to keep that same feel with my paper choices. I decided on a white paper with dots from Maggie Holmes' Bloom collection. Using it in the 6x6 paper form meant that the scale was nicely reduced for my page as well. Bonus.
Supplies: paper, tape, stickers - Bloom; tag - Little You; tiny attacher
I trimmed off a bit of the paper and adhered it to my page. I centered my photo on the paper and started selecting a few little embellishments.
I was curious about the washi tape stickers so I started with those. I wanted to just use one word from the one tape so I just torn it out. Those other words will come in handy sometime I'm sure.
To add a little interest to the top of the page I trimmed out the little “thrive” card from another sheet of paper in the 6x6 pad and stapled it to the top. That word went perfectly with my theme of home and the quest of a simple life.
I continued by adding in some layers with a floral strip of paper and a tag from the Little You collection. I get a lot of miles out of my products by thinking past the “assigned” theme. Yes, that totally was a baby tag. But I knew I'd just be using a portion of it. Try trimming off parts of die-cuts that don't work for your theme. Or cover text with your own typed word strips. Add stickers and other things. It's sometimes easier than you think to make themed items work for you.
