Stationery Style: Stationery Gift Box Set by Anabelle O'Malley

Recently, I recieved a package in a box that I knew could be reused for something fun. I decided that the Open Road collection would be the perfect line to create a stationery gift set and that the box would be just the right size to house it.

Inside, I created several gift enclosure cards, coordinating envelopes for them, a set of tags and a small notebook.

Let me tell you how I made it. I started by measuring the sections of the box. I decided to use pale colored papers to keep the box looking neutral. I didn't want to have a travel theme, rather, I decided to go for a general look. After cutting and adhering the papers, I sanded them.

I started by making my envelopes. I often save envelopes of various shapes and sizes so that I can use them as templates to make my own. This particular envelope is 3 x 4 inches. I knew I wanted my cards and envelopes to be able to be used as gift enclosures or regular greeting cards, so this was the perfect size. I opened the envelope and laid it flat. Then I traced it onto the paper, scored it and folded it up. If you don't have an envelope in the size you'd like, there are many templates online, or you could use an electronic die cut.

Here are the four envelopes I created. I chose papers with small or faint patterns to use for the outside, keeping the bright bold colors as liners.

Once the envelopes were finished, I placed them in a pile and cut a strip of paper which I wrapped around them as a holder. I topped the strip with a small die cut.

Now it was time to make the cards. They are each 2.75 x 3.75 inches. I purposely chose embellishments and motifs that were more general in nature. At this time of year, I thought the recipient of this gift box might use the cards as something for a graduate, end of the year teacher card, bon voyage card or just to say hello. I kept the design simple, layering a small doily and a few chipboard or die cut elements. I love using the chipboard frames on cards. They create a great focal point. I also added twine, which I think goes perfectly with the vintage nature of the collection. Additionally, the small letter stickers were just right to use as a sentiment.

Next, I created several tags. Again, they could be used for a variety of occasions. I love shipping tags because they are a fun neutral palette and can be attached to a gift bag, wrapped box, or even adhered to the front of a blank card! I started with the tags, adhered a doily and layered my elements onto them.

Finally, I thought a little notebook would be a fun addition to the gift. I measured the paper and wrapped it around the book. Then, I added the chipboard and the die cut banner. This notebook would be great to toss into a purse and could be carried on vacation, taken to work, or used for creating grocery shopping lists.

I had a great time creating this gift set and can't wait to give it away. Open Road is a wonderful collection to use for any summertime project!
