If you love detailed layouts as much as we do, then you are in for a special treat today! Following this month's "Simply Pale" feature, CP Gal Corrie Jones, assembled two heavily layered layouts from the Crate Paper collections, Open Road & Oh Darling. We invite you to absorb and enjoy their many offerings.
.......
One of my favorite 'colors' to use on my layouts is any shade of pale. You know, serene pink, mint green, eggshell blue, pastel yellow, etc. If it's anywhere near close to 'off-white', I'm all for it! Often times, I start with white and then add a hint of color until I find that perfect ever-so-subtle shade. I love slight touches of color!
For my page, 'Big Dreams', I used the new Open Road collection. I'm quite fond of the pale shades of pink and yellow. The background paper was light enough that I didn't have to worry about adding gesso to tone it down. The chipboard frames add dimension and lend a variety of stacked locations for the placement of various Open Road items.
It's crazy to think that my sweet girl is '16'! She has begun telling me her dreams for the future in terms of college, and life. She will go places, I know, and I can't wait to see her take to the special journey while at the same time, my wishing she were still small.
The Open Road stickers, chipboard, and cardstock pieces are wonderfully suited for 'teens', especially my dear daughter who is getting ready to fly!
I created a second page using the Oh Darling collection. The sweet collection has the most beautiful pinks, greens, and blues. And the patterns are near perfect–grids, music notes, dots and dresses.
For this page, I started by sprinkling ink onto the background. I then punched hearts from the various pale patterned papers in the 6 x 6 paper pad. I appreciate the 6 x 6 paper pads because of their smaller scale patterns.
I randomly adhered the hearts down the center of the page and around my photos. I then added touches of embellishments here and there, but kept them to a minimal. I didn't want to overwhelm the design.
One of the major perks of working with pale color is that the photos tend to 'pop' off the page more. It's the primary reason I love working with lighter colors. They allow the photo'(s) to shine while drawing the eye inward–same goes for black and white photos!
