We devoted last week to boys - this week, it's all about the GIRLS! The Crate Paper collection, Oh Darling (as does the new Styleboard), caters to everything 'pink' imaginable, alongside prim and proper flowers, pretty bows, tidy hearts, lace doilies and more. It's an exceptionally wonderful array of cuteness for every little girl as she lives out her dreams, whatever they may be. Here to help show you a few ladylike projects using the new collection (and Styleboard!) is our one and only, CP Gal Team!
~
I have one daughter who is super girlie and two that are not so much. But my youngest is all girl and pink and ruffles and lace and curls and dance and girl. You get it. So when I got the topic of 'girls will be girls', I knew immediately that I wanted to create a page about my youngest.
The first thing I did was find pictures to scrapbook. This is not how I always start, but this time I did. I printed them off and was thrilled to see they would work nicely with the newest Maggie Holmes collection, Styleboard. I chose this woodgrain patterned paper for the background.
I usually like the backgrounds to be a little more subtle. So, to tone down this wood paper, I painted the paper with gesso.
Once that was completely dry (with a little help from my handy dandy heat gun), I started laying out my page. I chose two frames and a transparency for emphasizing my photos. At this point, it dawned on me that this page MUST be pink and gold. The pictures had a pink and gold undertone to them thanks to my daughter's sweatshirt and the sunshine. Thankfully for me, the embellishments were filled with pink and gold gems!
I cut up the rub-ons, pulling out some of my favorite shapes and saying. I went through all the vellum, chipboard and sequins, and then removed the pink the gold pieces.
At first, there wasn't a lot of rhyme or reason to the process and it all got pretty messy.
But as I pushed around the pieces, the embellishments seemed to easily fall into place. And because I typically don't think about where things will land, I'm thankful when it all ends up looking good.
Here is the finished page...
It is one of my favorites right now. The colors in the photos and the colors in the collection compliment each other so perfectly and crazy enough, it just happened that way! I love how girlie it all is and I love how it is so HER. Isn't it awesome when colors help to create a certain mood on a layout?!
Right down to the push pin, every detail counts! And there are so many details to take in and admire...right down to the very last butterfly and roaming hearts.
Thank-you for visiting Crate Paper on this fine Monday! Do consider Crate Paper when the time comes to capture those perfect girl poses, pink and all!
