One of the most delightful moments taken to heart on Valentine's Day is the giving and receiving of Valentine's Day cards. Walk past any greeting card aisle this time of year, and your bound to see hundreds of Valentine's Day cards on display. We take great value in choosing just the right card to express our love for that special someone. For most crafty types though, making Valentine's Day cards from scratch feels far more personal and meaningful. Not surprisingly, the ideas for creating one's own "love notes" are vast and many - so, this week, we're focusing in on the subject and celebrating the tradition of Valentine creation.

There is something wonderfully nostalgic and romantic about handmade Valentines! Even if you don't normally send out cards the rest of the calendar year, February 14th is a great holiday to send something crafted from your heart.
The new Crate line, Love Notes, is perfect for creating a beautiful card or love note for your special Valentine. And the range of colors - from red to pink to aqua to ivory - work well for both feminine and masculine cards. I've chosen to mix some of the pink, aqua, and ivory papers along with a simple chipboard heart and XO stickers to create my Valentine.
I made the rosette behind the heart by cutting a strip of 1.5" x 12" paper and punching a scalloped border along one edge. Then I scored along the valley of each scallop and folded the strip accordian-style.
I adhered the ends together to form a circle and then gently bent the piece to lay flat on my card. And if you don't have the time to make your own rosette, the Love Notes collection has a pack of standouts embellishments that include several layered rosettes from the many beautiful papers!
I hope you'll be inspired to set aside a few moments today and craft a heartfelt Valentine for someone you love. Not only will it be rewarding to make (and give!), the recipient is sure to feel special and loved. Happy Scrapping!
Very pretty Lisa! I can't wait to find 'Love Notes' in my local store. Tks for the quick tutorial.
