In thinking about Valentine's Day, it's always worthwhile to document the little things that conjure up feelings of "love"; chocolate, coffee, design, scrapbooking, cooking, traveling and more. It's easy to sit down and craft about a special someone whom we love, but what about life's other "love"-themed adventures? Scrapbooking random pleasures is as much about "love" as anything else, hence they shouldn't be forgotten. Just ask our CP Gals, whom crafted projects on this very subject for this week's Valentine's theme, "Love This!".
When I think about things that I love, two passions enter my mind: crafting and traveling. I created layouts dedicated to each, and used the fun and versatile heart printed vellum from Love Notes to adorn them. Using my Silhouette Cameo, I used hearts of different sizes to make a cut file.
I overlapped the hearts slightly, welded them together and then 'cut'. When I removed the hearts, I was left with an equally beautiful background for another layout.
My travel-based layout includes miniature photos of some of my absolute favorite travel destinations. I cut a piece of 'Checked Out' patterned paper in half lengthwise, and adhered my photos in two columns. I them machine stitched my completed half to a piece of plain white cardstock in a zig-zag stitch for added detail. On the left side of my layout, I sewed down my Cameo-cut vellum hearts and adhered the Love Notes Thickers in alternating colors to entitle each of my pictured destinations. I then added a few chipboard hearts and a stand-out heart shape geo-tag embellishment. Finally, I typed a single line of journaling on plain vellum and attached it to the bottom of my photos as a caption.
For my love of crafting layout, I decided to pay homage to my favorite room in my house: my craft room. While small, it is the perfect, dedicated place for me to create. And, with it's mint walls, it coordinates perfectly with the colors in the Love Notes collection!
To create this layout, I stitched the remaining piece of heart vellum to a piece of white cardstock. I punched various hearts from the 6" x 6" paper pad and used foam adhesive to place them inside the negative heart pattern created by my Cameo cut. I arranged my photos on the left side of the page, added my title and some chipboard and stand-out embellishments.
Next time you use a die cut shape, I do hope you'll try using the background for another project!
Beautiful!
