Every year I enjoy making handmade ornaments to give to my family, and this year I put some of Crate Paper's Bundled Up collection to use on the pieces that will be adorning both my own Christmas tree and those of my loved ones this year.
This type of ornament is very simple to make, but, depending on the items you choose for yours, they can turn out looking completely different from mine!
Start by gathering your supplies. You'll need three types of items - some sort of base for your ornaments, some festive foliage, and a selection of chipboard and cardstock die cuts to layer on top to finish everything off. A hot glue gun is also handy, or your can use a epoxy glue such as E6000.
My ornament bases are actually little wooden trays that were the packaging for some scrapbooking supplies that I purchased a year earlier this year. I've nearly tossed them in the trash quite a few times during the several months that they've been hanging around my scrap room, but I'm glad that I held onto them because they were perfect for this project!
I started assembling my ornaments by cutting small sections off of the glittered leaf sprays using a pair of wire cutters. Then I rummaged through the die cuts, chipboard, and stitched borders from the Bundled Up collection and put together six little clusters - one for each ornament. After I'd selected all of my pieces, assembling the ornaments was so simple - just use liberal amounts of hot glue underneath everything to make sure it's secure!
I still need to add ornament hangers to these - I'm currently trying to decide between simple ribbon loops or something a little more sturdy from the hardware store. Then these lovelies will be handed over to my family to add to the ornament collection!
Great idea! I love this collection and have been using it nonstop lately! Love what you did with it!
