There is no such thing as too much "chalkboard' inspiration - that's why today we're giving you a hefty dose of what's left from the design team chalkboard project stash! A special thank you to the CP Gals for sharing the inside scoop on their chalkboard projects. They did an awesome job and we couldn't be more proud!! A+ - without a doubt!
I created a Halloween layout with the Flea Market collection. I think that chalkboard and Flea Market fit perfectly with the Halloween theme I came up with for my layout. I used my favorite Halloween photos and wrote journal entries around them. While creating this layout, I was reminded of elementary school. I liked scribbling all over the chalkboard and was often scolded for it by my teacher. Today, the memory of the scribbling activity is a joyful one - it was so much fun!
This month, I decided to make an organization board that's half magnet and half chalkboard to hold a calendar, lists and photos. It's great having everything organized all in one place. I brought home an inexpensive tray and painted it with some spray paint I had in the garage. I added a chalkboard calendar to one side and on the other, I turned ephemera from the Close Knit collection into fun little magnets, simply by adding some magnetic strips to the backs. My favorite part of the project was taking epoxy button brads and turning them into magnets to hold my lists and photos. These brads are so cute with colorful patterns on them...they make perfect magnets. All it took was snipping off the brad backing and sticking on a magnet back instead. With the holidays fast approaching, now is the ideal time to get organized, and this project is a great way to get started!
Since Autumn hasn't yet arrived in Michigan (it's been in the 70's and 80's for weeks!), I pulled out a photo of my daughters from last Halloween for this layout. Chalkboard accents from Flea Market and a photo overlay from Close Knit made for a festive, Halloween feel. I used a few different scraps of patterned paper for a little extra texture and grouped my embellishments in a frame around my photo.
I had a fun time working on this week's chalkboard themed challenge and thought it the perfect opportunity to create a little something special for our little bundle of joy. I was inspired by the chalkboard announcement concept and the mix of fonts and designs. Here, I used the Flea Market collection, focusing on natural colors, all shades of pink and various chalkboard elements. Also, one of the things that I like the most about this collection is the hint of gold here and there; which helps add the nicest touch to this precious memory/frame.
When Crate Paper sent out details about this month's chalkboard theme, I immediately thought of the bottle of Martha Stewart Chalkboard Paint that I recently purchased. I've been waiting for the right layout to use it on, and this was perfect! I started with the Close Knit collection and a piece of light brown cardstock (sticking with the warm tones in the papers) and painted a rough square in the middle of the cardstock using the chalkboard paint. After it dried, I cut the paper down to slightly smaller than 12" x 12" and mounted it on a piece of patterned paper to give the edges of the layout a border. After that, it was scrapping as usual for me! I did try something a little different and used a white Sharpie poster paint pen to outline all of my embellishments and my title, just to add a little more chalkboard effect to the page.
I started with black cardstock paper and used a background stamp and white pigment ink to stamp random images throughout. Before the white ink dried, I used my fingers to smudge certain parts of the stamped images. This created areas that were more pronounced than others and left behind a smudgy chalk effect. To match my darker background color, I knew I would use bolder, brighter embellishments from the Flea Market collection. I opted for a black and white photo, a perfect complement as it helps make the scrapbook process easier with less conflicting colors to deal with. The photograph was capture at Colorado Springs, as my family and I enjoyed a scenic view of changing seasonal colors from Summer to Fall.
Loving all the work today. Great ways to use chalkboard

This is beautiful. Love the colors. What stamp is that? I think it is one I would love for my own collection.
