More often than not, I scrap layouts with only one photo. I find it easier and more fun to create a design for my page this way. Since I had a lot of photos from a recent road trip that I wanted to include on a layout, I decided to create a collage. It's the best of both worlds - you can design your page as if you're scrapping with one photo, but you get to include lots of photos! There are many different ways to go about creating a collage. There are photo apps that make collages. Pic Collage and PicFrame are two that I've used and liked. Just search in the app store for "photo collage" and you'll find lots of options. You can also create a collage in Photoshop or PSE by using a template. I used these templates that are a free download from GingerPixel. Picasa, which is a free photo organizing and editing program from Google, also has the capability to create collages.
I used the new Close Knit collection to create this layout with nine photos from a recent road trip with my family just before Summer vacation ended.
Using the collage allowed me to include a variety of photos from the day with room left over for some journaling and embellishing. I will still highlight some of my favorite photos on their own layouts, but I like that this layout summarizes the whole day. Try using collages when you want to include lots of photos!
