Dots. Dots. More Dots. Who doesn't love them? Crate sure does if you haven't noticed already. The Pier caters to a variety of playful dots, as does every other CP collection out there. The classic, go-to pattern pairs seamlessly with stripes, florals, solids, and more. It's a nice change of pace, especially next to bright pops of color!! I didn't want the page to be covered in dots, so I used them to express small touches instead. I chose an assortment of papers crafted from dots of all sizes. I also embossed paper and vellum with Stencil Dots. They remain discreet on the page, but give something sparkling to all!

Do you like polka-dots? It is one of my favorite patterns and there are so many polka-dot papers and embellishments in The Pier collection to chose from and try out! I hid polka-dots throughout my layout - how many are you able to find them? Take a careful look at the swimwear, banner and small hexagons, etc. I drew white dots with a white pen on both the embellishments and clear alpha letters. It conjures up the image of flying spray, don't you think?
I gathered some of my favorite Crate Paper collections for this layout, like the Maggie Holmes series, for example. I love the light papers that are included in this range, they are perfect for Summer and convey happiness! I also love the wooden clips - the one on my page is from the DIY Shop collection and says, "today". There are also pins with weekdays written on them, and other words. If you want to make sure the pin stays in place, use a bit of glue (or glue dots, hot glue) on the backside.
Now that Summer is upon us, I'm one happy girl! I decided to scap some photos I took of my son and his friends as they played with the water hose for the first time this season. I knew that I wanted to use the gold sequins from The Pier's ephemera pack as an element for my 'dots' for this week's Creative Weekly theme. Somehow, they reminded me of drops of sunshine! I decided to do a mixed media background. First, I pulled colors of my photos and used Gelatos in those shades to create the water colored effect. Next, I cut a panel of vellum with lots of circles. I laid this over the background for added texture and as a means to highlight the sequins. Then, I started adding my pictures and embellishments. I used the Slide Frames and The Pier, along with the banner stickers. I also used some chipboard; Thickers and a Maggie Holmes Butterfly Chipboard Piece. Finally, I adhered everything to the paper from On Trend, which I brushed with gold ink. I love mixing Crate Paper patterns and lines. And, I love the summery feel this page has, even though it's not using typical Summer colors.
Great challenge and love love love what the DT created!! Fabulous!!
