Our designers are chiming in with a gallery of exclusive Crate Paper projects for the month of April. This first layout from CP Designer, Anabelle O'Malley, is a catchy, bold pairing of black and white with pops of red, a free-flowing title and a confetti filled vellum tag that is brimming with glitter and all things shiny. The striped background is Crate's very own DIY Shop patterned paper, "Design".

I'm so in love with the bold stripes on the background paper. I decided to keep the embellishments fairly minimal and added a flash of gold via the title.

If you're confused by bold color and don't know where to start, I'll give you some tips to work with it! As you know, I love playing with stickers and mist. Bold color looks great when applied to a neutral background. Here, using a masking technique, I spritzed two areas of bright yellow, across from each other. Actually, the mist is a blend of yellow, orange and gold. Don't be afraid to create your own colors of mist when given the chance. Because of the brightness of the two misted areas, I went ahead and balanced it out with a dark alpha set. Yep, I used a full sheet of alpha stickers!! I dare you to do the same :)

I love the arrangement of stars on my layout. To create them, I cut stars from Crate's "Aperture" patterned paper with the help of my Cameo and a craft knife. I then backed the star-trimmed areas with varying pieces of patterned paper and sewed around them with a sewing machine. Additional stars held in place with foam adhesive, surround my star cut-outs. They give the layout a little more "pop"!
I still can't get enough of Crate's Fourteen collection. The color palette is amazing as it does a perfect job of recreating the soft atmosphere of the layout's theme, Bedtime Story Cuddle.
My husband, Ella and I found this amazing little guy in our timber one afternoon. It was such a great experience. Ella looked at her daddy and in the sweetest, almost three-year-old voice said, "He's beautiful daddy!" Melt my heart.
I used the new Maggie Holmes collection along with a few of the embellishments from the DIY Shop collection. The gold accents seem to be fitting for this little guy and the photo overlay creates a beautiful surround while highlighting him.
Last Summer, we had this beautiful owl perched on the fence in our backyard. My grandmother always loved owls. She collected them and they just remind me of her. I took this visit from the owl as a sign from her; as a "hello" of sorts. Using the new Maggie Holmes collection, I recorded my feelings of missing our lost loved ones. The envelope from Maggie's mini album suppliment pack and the adorable flower clip were perfect for keeping the journaling tucked away.
A birthday lunch was in order using Crate's birthday-rific collection, Party Day. With an assembly of banners and pattern paper stripes, there was plenty of ample space to note the event details and to create a feel of "celebration".
I took advantage of the numerous DIY Shop scraps laying around my desk to craft these three unique, fun-to-share cards. I love sending handmade cards rather than store bought ones. In my opinion, it's like sending a hug right along with it!
Wow! These are all gorgeous!!
