Triangles are very trendy in the paper crafting world, so I thought it would be fun to dedicate a fwe projects and tips using this traditional shape. Thinking back to high school trigonometry, I do recall that triangles may be a vareity of shapes and sizes. The cool thing about a triangle shape is the ability to rotate it to achieve differing effects, such as an arrow. Whether you use triangles as a focal point, background design, or even a shaped card, you can create endless projects.
To make the triangles on this card, I cut a 3.5" or so square and trimmed it in half on the diagonal. Next, using the right angles, I trimmed some of the edges off so it would geometrically fit on my card front. I layered a journaling card with some cardstock stickers and this card was finished in no time!
The next card showcases how to create a background pattern using small triangle shapes. I have prepared a quick photo tutorial showing how to make triangles using square punches (or dies).
PUnch squares from cardstock or patterned paper (or die-cut fabric). You can use any size you would like.
Next, using scissors, cut half of the square on the diagonal. You will get right-angle triangular shapes. Feel free to use these triangles or proceed to the next step!
To make small equilateral triangles, cut each triangle again, but this time at the peak (as shown).
Here, you can see the two different triangle sizes using one square punch size.
I layered the triangles into a geometric pattern on the top and lower portions of the card front.
On this card, I used small triangular shapes as an arrow embellishment.
On my last card, I made a triangle-shaped card. I cut two 6" x 6" squares. I made a mark on one side of a square at the 3" mark, then cut at an angle to the other end. This allows the triangle to be a bit taller than wide. I adhered the second triangle to the back (only above a scored portion) to make it into a card.
So, are you seeings lots of triangles too? I sure hope so! Add some to your layouts, cards, or mini albums soon because they sure are fun!
These are fabulous!! LOVING all the triangles!!!
