I love Valentine's Day! It's one of my favorite holidays of the year. One of the things I most enjoy, aside from roses and candy, of course, is making cards to give to those I love. This year, I decided to make my cards using the DIY Shop line. Crate's Valentine lines are awesome, but I wanted to do something a bit more 'non-traditional' and DIY Shop fit the bill! There are so many motifs that lend themselves to cards about love. And the colors are just perfect!! I'm absolutely hooked on gold right now and the embellishments from this line include some gorgeous gold pieces.
For my first card, I started off with a piece of patterned ledger paper that I spritzed with gold mist. (This same paper served as the backdrop for all three cards) I added a gold doily and then layered everything on top of it. I found a patterned paper ruler with the word "February" printed on it - perfect for Valentine's Day. I cut the LOVE banner from the Tags paper and added the flower stand-out.
I love the vintage/shabby feel of this card. It would be perfect for a mother, sister or friend.
My next card uses a journaling card, die-cut and tag, along with stickers. I layered them all together and added the gold clothespin. Another gold doily is peeking out from behind the journaling card. Yellow, aqua and gold aren't traditional Valentine's colors, but they work wonderfully here.
My last card combines several of the die-cuts. See that chevron tag? I think it's my favorite piece in the entire collection. I used the bingo card with the word "sweet" spelled onto it. In order to fit my red Thickers and the Chevron tag, I moved some of the letters a bit. The result is a sentiment that reads 'Sweet Love'. I added some of that fun gold and yellow twine to the tag to finish it off!
As you can see, DIY Shop can be the most ideal collection for Valentine's. Don't be afraid to think outside the box a bit. I think that my recipients are going to be really happy when they open these vintage inspired Valentines. Thanks so much for stopping by today!
