Hello everyone! Tara here with our October Crate Color Challenge! Fall is certainly in the air this month with shorter days, cooler evenings and pumpkins decorating neighborhood front porches. One of my favorite parts of Autumn is the colors that are associated with the season, the warmer jewel tones mixed with more natural colors and textures. For our color combination this month, I had to look no further than a fashion magazine for the inspiration I needed!
This month's color combination is: Dove Grey - Peacock Blue - GingerBread Brown
and the inspiration wire:
some nitty-gritty details about the challenge:
- You may submit a card, layout or project to be eligible. Projects need to be submitted by: October 22nd please email your work to: [email protected]
- You may use the colors in any proportion you wish, as long as you use all 3 colors in the palette. And you may add black, white or kraft paper to the colors.

- The winner will be announced on: October 23rd (Tuesday), and I'll share some of my favorite projects here on the blog.

I had a few different ideas for scrapbook layouts, but this first one is probably my favorite! My son Chase is now in his second year of preschool and has come home with all sorts of colorful things to say. (Every parents dream!) I finally sat down and typed a list of some of his more often used expressions and while there are lots that didn't make the list, it will still be fun, one day, to look back and laugh about the silly things he did say!
I've completed my Fall to do list and made it into a scrapbook layout! I've attached my checklist to a paper envelope that I plan on using for extra photos and some journaling about our adventures over the next 2 months!
Some of my favorite layouts are on the rather simplistic side - as in just a title and a photo. I've been saving this photo, taken last year on our annual Fall hike through Sedona, waiting for the perfect layout to come about so I could finally use it. When I thought of the title 'Autumn bliss' I remembered this photo and felt it would compliment the title well.
For my final project I wanted to create a series of small art pieces to display on my piano through out the Fall season. I decided on a few different gold frames, I'm an avid collector, and Autumn as my theme! To carry the theme into each frame, I used die-cut leaves as my common embellishment, but also kept the colors neutral as well. It's a fun collage type project that doesn't take too long and you'll have pretty new art pieces to display!
It's your turn now! I hope this color combination leaves you feeling inspired to create something spectacular! Sort through your Crate paper, pull the matching colors and let's get creative- we always look forward to seeing each of your color challenge projects. I'll be back on the 23rd to announce this month's Color Challenge winner - Good luck to everyone and have a wonderful weekend!

"Þakka þér, herra. Guð blessi þig," the þakklát barnið sagði við hann. Maðurinn horfði þá drengurinn ýta bróður sínum að gangstéttinni í átt heimili þeirra.
