Last Friday, we asked you which three Crate Paper collections were your favorite. After reviewing your comments, a "top three" is in order; Story Teller, Emma's Shoppe, & Random!! Following just behind is Restoration, Farmhouse, Paper Heart and Peppermint. There was even a vote or two for a few of Crate's oldies such as "Brook" and "Lemon Grass". Both are timeless collections with "Brook" leading the way!
Thank-you to everyone who responded to Friday's inquiry - below is the winner of the "On Trend" collection kit.
My favorites are Emma's Shoppe, Toy Box and Pretty Party. I'm also looking forward to the new collections. I think Acorn Avenue will might just be a new favorite. Thanks CP! - TX Posted by: jackie | September 15, 2012 at 06:59 AM

And now we return to this month's Creative Weekly...
Naomi Atkins
I was very excited when I received the creative weekly assignment, "All Natural". I have a love affair with woodgrain paper, kraft paper, and doilies, and immediately knew that my layout was going to contain those elements! I also added a brown paper lunch bag to the line-up for additional, nice texture!
Since I knew that I wanted to keep the layout as soft and neutral as possible, I decided to use soft black and white photos. My daughter was on the front porch the other day, just jabbering away..and after two very silent boys, it was music to my earts. I have not idea what she is saying, but she is so expressive and I just love it!
For the design, I was very inspired by an article I saw about how Rhonna Farrer came up with her inspiration when designing her Christmas Line, "All is Bright". I saw that she pinned lots of photos of Kraft, Doilies, and burlap with soft touches of mint green. I also have been wanting to give layering a try, since many of our awesome design girls here do it so well! I'm normally a very linear scrapbooker, so this was a challenge for me..but so much fun! I actually cut the doilies with a border punch from a brown paper lunch bag since the texture was perfect for layering with them. I then mounted my photos to white cardstock, and layered tags from Little Bo Peep and Story Teller, and some stickers, as well. I love woodgrain and the new wood veneers, but I wanted to soften the veneers up since I used woodgrain for my background. I spritzed them with Mr. Huey spray mist, and then layered over another tag from Crate's "On Trend" collection. I love how elements from all of the lines look so coordinated!! I added some stitching and "gasp", left the threads loose, inspired again by the layering gals Janna, Rahel and Tara!
I loved this month's Creative Weekly inspiration! We're all about the outdoors around here, so I'm naturally drawn to neutral and earthy tones. I began by going through my Crate Paper stash of goodies. I pulled out anything that qualified as browns, tans, plus a small pop of color using Ella's dress for inspiration.
I'm a huge fan of shadow pictures. The first time I saw photos like this one was on instagram. Another thing I absolutely enjoy is creating layouts with a neutral color scheme along with a pop of color. In looking closely, the color is "mint-y green/blue. I used Crate Paper's Little Boy Blue and Little Bo Peep collection to create my layout. Would you have ever guessed?
