Crate Paper is honored and excited to announce the arrival of it's fresh, inspiring Design Team of Winter/Spring 2012! Upon introduction, you might see a familiar face or two, but we've added a bunch of new designers you'll want to meet! We welcome you to get to know each and every one of them, and while your at it, check out their current favorite project and "Technique of the Moment"! There's a varied assortment, and we couldn't be any happier to share them with you!
Introductions begin with the first half of the team. We'll finish them up tomorrow with the second half..and incase you hadn't noticed, we've given you a brief peek into one of our soon-to-debut collections, so take a CLOSE LOOK!
Hey Everyone! My name is Sasha Farina and I'm super, super excited to be here! I thought I'd tell you a little about me. I live in Singapore with my very supportive husband, Sam and our two girls, Neha (almost 12) and Nidhi (almost 10). I love colors, tshirt and jeans, coffee, butterflies, good food, my iPhone, reality tv, and my camera. I've been scrapbooking since 2006, and jumped in with both feet, head first into this wonderful, amazing world with no regrets!
When I'm not creating stuff in my scraproom, I like to photograph runners at marathon/running events around Singapore and sometimes, Malaysia and Thailand too. And this is totally random, but I tend to overuse the exclamation mark, and I'm fussy when it comes to shoes. I also usually procrastinate when it comes to housework! *cough-cough* LOL.
I'm so looking forward to working with Crate Paper alongside the other talented designers!:)
Technique of the Moment
Right now, my favorite thing to do on my layouts is handstitching! So much potential in one simple technique!
Hiya! My name is Shanna, and I live with my little family in Sonoma County, California. I started digital scrapbooking in late 2006 and really enjoyed it until sometime in 2010. During that time, I really started to take an interest in photography and felt like between editing and digital scrapbooking, I was spending far too much time on the computer. It took me a while to discover I could have just as much fun (actually WAY MORE fun) doing paper scrapbooking. So, in June of 2011, I picked up my first piece of patterned paper and some glue, and I've been hooked ever since! I'm over the moon to be here creating with this wonderful team at Crate Paper!
Technique of the Moment
I have been getting "sassy" with my sewing machine (as my friend Kate would say) lately and can't seem to do a layout without it! Give me my sewing machine and some paper, and I could create for days!
Glitter, splatters, baker's twine and lots of white space - that's me! My name is Rahel Manig and I'm originally from Switzerland, but moved to the USA, well, because I hopelessly fell in love with my very best friend, Adrian. We got married in May 2012, went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and soon became parents to a cute little rabbit called Jynxy and a blue-eyed kitty called Dexter. We live in a tiny apartment in Gilroy, CA (yeah, the Garlic Capital...) and I have been able to dedicate most of my time to my passion, scrapbooking, and my long time dream, photography.
Technique of the Moment
Glitter Splatters
My name is Suzanne Sergi. I live in Orange County, but I'm a Texas Gal at heart! I'm married to Steven, and we have a three wonderful children. I also work part time at our local scrapbook store. There you might find me working an evening crop, or teaching a class, or two. Scrapbooking is my creative outlet, and I enjoy combining my love of paper with photography. I enjoy creating scrapbook pages, home decor projects, and mini albums. You may even see a card from me! I have a passion for embellishments and lots of texture on my projects. Adding details to my papercrafts is my favorite part of the design process. Scrapbooking has turned into one of my biggest passions, and I'm fortunate to be designing for several manufacturers. I have also been blessed to have some of my work published in Scrapbook Trends! When I'm not scrapbooking, you'll find me with a Starbucks drink and a really good book! I'm thrilled and honored to be a part of the Crate Paper Design Team!
Technique of the Moment
My favorite technique is using embossing folders to add texture, and detail to my projects!
I'm a mom to my two daughters, Grace and Harper, and married to my best friend, David. (We're at 18 years and counting!) I started paper crafting about seven years ago, got hooked immediately, and I'm still having a blast creating today. My first love in paper crafting is making cards, but I also enjoy scrapbooking and altering too. I'm crazy about color and texture, and you will see a lot of both in my work. I'm so excited to be a part of the Crate Paper Design Team, and I'm looking forward to a fun-filled term!
My favorite "Technique of the Moment" is sewing, by hand or machine. I learned to sew because of paper crafting, and you can usually find some sort of stitching on my projects.
My name is Kaori Watanabe (also known as Chelsea). I'm living in Northern Japan, Hokkaido with my hubby and four-year-old son. I started scrapbooking in October of 2008, when having my my son's first album.
Today, I still create pages about my son, and include numerous photos of him when compiling a layout. Outside this preferred, popular subject, I also like to chronicle every day moments through scrapbooking, so everyday photos are a regular feature of my work.
Outside of photos, I love to incorporate numbers, alphas, and vintage ephemera into my layouts. I'm absolutely crazy about layout design, too!
I like to scrapbook about daily life. This is because "daily life" is always changing and results in something unique and special via scrapbooking. In making a page, I enjoy using various kinds of ink. I also like using my sewing machine and die-cut machine, too!
Hello, I'm Claudia Shadler. I've been married to my hubby, Scott, for six years now (well, almost - Feb 17th), and I've been crafting since 2008. I've always been a crafty girl! I clearly remember choosing art class over Volley Ball as an after school activity in High School. Currently, I reside in Denver, Colorado and besides enjoying crafting on my spare time, I also enjoy breakfest eateries, going to the movies, and of course, hiking during the Summer months. I regularily take to paper crafting kits, and frequent visits to Archivers - it's earned me the title of "Most Frequent Customer", ha! And oh, I make spelling errors quite frequently!
I'm a simple crafter, really, and I enjoy the occasional, limited pieces that represent my work - lots o'layering, too! Mostly though, my style is clean and simple, with a pop of color! Shazam! For example, this page here from my December Daily Album...
I'm not much of a technique person per say, but I really love die-cuts and layering. Also a must on my layouts, misting. My preference for misting is watercolors.
A HUGE congratulations to our newest team members, and returning talent!! Please allow us to reitterate how much we appreciate you being a member of the Crate Paper team - we know that everyone will be anticipating your creations!
