As a final "mini tutorial" for the month of December, and because it's perfectly suitable just about anytime of year, we're leaving you with a summarized write-up and photo series of Erin Stewart's exquisite, redone composition book. Note that the tutorial is on the "extra brief" side, but don't let this keep you from working up an similar album for yourself or a friend. Plus, the photos are scrumptious! We literally could look at them all day!! Love, love, love the assortment of colorful details!!
Hi There - Erin Stewart with you to show off a really simple project I thought you might enjoy learning more about before the arrival of January. The project itself is that of an altered composition book covered and embellished with Crate Paper's ever popular Random collection. I'll officially say, "I love the way it turned out!" It's super girlie, and is an ideal means of documenting the upcoming new year!
To get started, you'll want to locate one of these at either a large department store such as Target or Office Max, or any other location that sells notebooks/office supplies. You might want to buy a couple, too, 'cause they're cheap and make for a quick, easy altered project!
To get started, trace and cut a section of Random's Denim patterned paper to fit the cover of your composition book. Adhere the paper down with a solid, wet adhesive such as Two Way Glue or Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive.
After the cover's fully dried, start adding to it a mixture of Random's tags, chipboard pieces, stickers, and trims. I positioned and layered a variety of elements onto the cover with both wet adhesive and pop dots. Feel free to use my set-up as a reference for creating your own. Take note of the order in which differing items are added so that you end up with something similar - though change things up if preferrable!
*the banner is actually a Crate Paper border sticker and is readily available via Random's border sticker collection. You're not required to create the banner from scratch - no tiny trim-work here!
Go ahead and add the "Fab Rip" to the binding. Though, this step is optional as the album looks great without the binding, too!
I love how you can take a simple, common household object and bring it a whole new fresh look! The best part, not only is the journal perfect for recording memories, but it's also a nice addition to view upon when on a nightstand table or out in the open. The cover is eye catching-ly beautiful!
With New Years Eve & New Years Day expected this weekend, take to celebrating safely and happily amongst family and friends! And if you've yet to work out those yearly scrapbook resolutions, you've still plenty of time to get them done! Take care, and enjoy the weekend festivities!
I LOVE this!!! I've been trying to come up with something to make for my niece and this is perfect!!! I'm going to make her a bunch for school! Beautiful and practical :)
