Hello, it's CP Girl Larissa here to show you another 3-D project today and this time I'm here to inspire you to create a book for your children to play with! First, let me introduce you to my creative process:
From the moment I saw the Books patterned paper I knew I just had to give life to one of those adorable book titles that Lisa brought to us. So, it's been a while that I've been thinking about creating a children's book. I also remembered when Lisa presented to us Crate Paper's new collections and shared the story of entering her son and daughter's bedrooms and from the two rooms, she worked up all the inspiration required to create CP's amazing new collections - Emma's Shoppe and Toy Box! Since having read Lisa's story, I've been unable to stop thinking about them two adorable rooms. So, for CP DIY project this month, I decided to create a 2-floor little house pop-up book that hosts a children's world of textured and layered rooms. Here's another look...
Now for the instructions to make the pop-up book...
First, trim four pieces of patterned paper measuring 11.5" x 12".
Fold each of the papers at the 11" mark and 5.5" mark {see image above}.
Adhere the pieces of paper together to create the shown accordion above - the small tab should be adhered to the backside of it's neighboring paper. Remember, that for the accordion, you'll need to alternately fold one section back, then one section forward.
Put the accordion aside to give it time to dry. Next, cut and fold 8 triangles like those shown above. To ensure an accurately sized triangle, pre-measure the area in which they'll be placed within the accordion.
After the triangles are cut and folded, insert them into the accordion.
Continue by adding cut-outs, embellishments and attaching tabs.
For the roof, trim four more triangles and fold them in the same fashion as the previous ones. Insert them into position along the top of the accordion as to create a roof for it.
For the covers, trim two pieces of chipboard measuring at 5.75" x 12".
Cover the chipboard pieces with paper...
Before you adhere the accordion to the inside of the two covers, you'll need to add ribbon. Measure and place a mark at the middle point of each chipboard piece. Position the ribbon using double-stick tape on center both above and below the mark.
Now it's time to position the accordion inside the book!
Cover the chipboard covers with patterned paper and an individual book spine trimmed from the aforementioned "books" patterned paper. Continue to further decorate the book covers!
And your book is ready!
You can now encourage your children to play with the book! Than's to Lisa for the inspiration - hope you like my version of your "home". I'm moving on! See you soon - Larissa Albernaz.
