Ania here with a Simply Crate-project which focuses on how a very simple, yet strong design, can “make” your whole layout. Just have a look at it:
This lettersized-layout can be broken down into three main parts:
The background, which is....
…a patterned rectangle upon a rectangle.
And a slightly wider and more compact rectangle, which is…
…cut slightly diagonally and dragged to each end. That’s pretty much the whole design of this layout – now that this is in place, all you have to do is to add some embellishments (but not too much – the design is strong enough on its own, so too much will easily become too much and too messy).
Here I added three images from a date night, taken with my iPhone..
And as you can see – all I decided to add to the layout was trims for the edges, a spot for the journaling and some paper-trims for the ephemera + title.
Attach the trims w/ribbon-glue (normally I’d sew along the trims as well, but my sewing machine just said good-bye…again).
As you can see, I decided to attach the trims on the backside of the paper, only letting the scallops/blondes peek outside the edge.
Lastly, I decided to add a mini-doily to the lower right corner of the layout along with a couple of varying border strips of pattern paper.
The ephemera is tucked between the two borders, and I’ve added some embellishments and a title upon the top border.
And there you have it. The whole layout was completed within the hour, much thanks to the strong “basic” design which didn’t require much else to be added to the layout. And now for some close-ups!
Until we meet again, Ania :)
