So here we again with day two of our Happy Holidays event! We thank all of you that are following along thus far! We still have lots from "under the tree" to share as with you in the coming days, so keep submitting your comments! You still have plenty of time to participate in the daily giveaways and bookmark your favorite holiday projects! With that said, it's time to bring forth today's good tidings and Crate Paper gifts - come take a peek!
Happy Holidays Crate Paper Fans! It's Lexi Bridges and I've brought for a you a quick inspiration piece that'll have you thinking all about "snowflakes"! On a recent trip to New York, I came away with loads of inspiration! And while there, I already had a winter layout in mind, so when I saw this store front
I knew exactly which direction I wanted to go with it!
Used here are papers from three different collections: North Pole, Paper Doll & Snow Day. I thought the grey color of the base paper (North Pole) went along with the rest of the colors in the photo and was perfect for some masking/misting action. I used my Slice and several snowflake punches to get a variety of shapes and sizes of flurrying activity ;) I only used three colors and patterns for the snowflakes: Blue (Snow Day), Lime Green (Paper Doll) and a Candy Cane Stripe (North Pole) -- I knew it would be busy enough without adding more patterned paper. To get more of a wintery feel, I punched and die-cut vellum snowflakes and put them on top of the patterned paper ones. I love the frosty feel it gives to them :) Some of the snowflakes even have a sparkle button as their center!
Note all the sparkle on this layout - it literally shines like shimmery snow! I used a couple of snowflakes as a mask during the application of glimmer mist to my layout's background paper.
I also added some simple journaling to the layout. I typed it directly over vellum and then stitched the vellum down.
This layout already has me looking forward to our first snow this season...and lots of hot chocolate! What about you?! Maybe now you'll want to start working on creating your own snowflake mix! If so, bundle up and grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate!
Lucy had us fooled with her story about this layout - we would of never guessed that she lived in Florida and faced difficulties in finding the most ideal photos for her winter theme layouts. This particular layout of hers is astonishingly beautiful and alive with color!
Tidbits about the Layout from Lucy: Without many snow pictures, as I live in Florida, sometimes it's hard to create winter themed layouts - but Snow Day from Crate is so versatile that my outdoorsy layout about a very famous Christmas wish came together so easily. The chipboard trees mixed in perfectly to create that note of whimsy and holiday cheer without this becoming a traditional Christmas project. I just adore this color combination! I painted a piece of canvas to go into the background and emphasize it's natural feel. Wishing all you a wonderful Holiday Season! ~ L
Kinsey was so excited when she passed this along to us to share during our Happy Holidays event. It's of a holiday/Christmas tic tac toe (Snowflakes & O's) game that she made using a wooden dividing tray that she found at the Dollar Tree and some wooden napkin rings that she painted and covered with Crate Paper's North Pole pattern papers. Isn't it clever?! Nothing says Christmas like game time with the fam!
To add to our grand prize giveaway for next week, we're introducing three brand new works from more of Crate Paper's blog readers. These sweet lil' houses and trees came to us from Fleur Smith. We were astonished to see that she had trimmed rows upon rows of christmas lights from our Sparkle pattern paper and used them as decoration on an actual set of mini Christmas Trees! They're the cutest trees we've ever seen!
Nicole Pomeroy from Australia mentioned to us that it's still Summer in Australia, but that it didn't prevent her from taking advantage of Snow Days color range to produce this heavily layered "Crazy Christmas Photo" layout. Well, we have only one response to that, send us some "sun" Nicole! We could use it's snow melting rays right about now! Thanks for sharing Nicole!
The holidays wouldn't be fulfilled without the presence of handmade greetings! These lovelies are from Valerie Bishop. She remarked how perfect our chipboard elements are for cardmaking and how much she loved using the non-traditional color scheme of our Snow Days line for her Christmas cards! Well, we completely agree with you Valerie! Snow Day's non-traditional color scheme is a whole bundle of fun for creating one-of-a-kind greetings and you're cards are a perfect example of this!
We have an extra special offering as part of today's giveaway that you'll more than likely want to be included in as it involves nearly $100 worth of Crate Paper products!! Ever seen a Christmas basket filled to the brim with Crate Paper products before? Well, it's quite the spectacular site! How about a chance at unwrapping it all and gifting yourself $100 worth of Crate Paper goodies?! Leave a comment below and we'll announce the winner on December 22nd!
That about sums up today's festivities - join us for day three of our Happy Holiday event beginning early mornen' tomorrow!
