Time's up everyone! We're just about ready to announce our first official sketch challenge winner!! It's all about YOU today! We're slightly behind in showcasing your submissions so we thought instead of waiting until Monday to share some of your layouts, we'd post them today! It appears that lots of you have been cutting and pasting with our Crate Paper goodies lately. You've been sending us cards, layouts, altered projects and other fantastic creations for us to post here on our blog. We just say thank-you, thank-you, thank-you. We wholeheartedly enjoy the projects you share with us, so keep'em coming! 

One other note before introducing some of your projects..yep, Mother's Day is right around the corner...our dear sweet blog contributor, Caroline, was wayyy ahead of us and finished a couple of Mother's Day cards already. As you already know, Crate Paper has an amazingly talented group designers that serve as contributors for the CP blog. Fortunately for us, one of them, Emily Pitts, is a sketch challenge pro and has offered to put together bi-weekly sketches! We're super excited as we're well aware that many of you voiced interest in us hosting "Sketch Challenges". How about that?! So, today we're hosting our first official CP Sketch Challenge!! Three of our designers, including Emily herself, have already completed the challenge. We've posted their layouts below..feel free to refer to them while creating your own sketch inspired layout! After you've completed your layout, link to it in the comment section of this post. We'll publish all layouts on Saturday and select one WINNER from the group to take home Crate Paper's most popular collection, "Brook".

 

   

  

Emily Pitts :: Pink Plum Collection

The great thing about sketches is that they're extremely versatile.  Emily switched up her 3" x 4" photo and journal spot. Both are similar in size and weight. Having switched the two items has little effect on the look and feel of her layout. Feel free to make similar changes to your design!

 

Ronda Palazzari :: Brook Collection

Maybe you don't have two photos to include on your layout or only one photo is necessary to convey your story. Ronda went without the smaller size photo and instead, included additional journaling. She also changed the orientation of the embellishments and applied paint via brush and bubble wrap. The results are simply beautiful! 

 

Christine Middlecamp :: Cottage Collection

Of course, Christine threw in a few extras, which is no surprise because we all know how much she loves "layers". Even her journal spot is blooming with bits and pieces of stuff...it's all so delicious!

Even though the sketch challenge is scheduled to end this Saturday, we'll return Friday with a new post all about you!! You guys have been flooding us with your emails and projects and we're slowly but surely gathering them together and will soon share our favorites. We've also been receiving tutorials from some of you (Tutorials are always welcome - so if you have one to share, send it to us!). We'll start posting those next week! See you soon!

 

Tutorial :: Celine Navarro

There are still TWO more days left for you to post our brand new, ever-so-cute blinkie on your blog or online gallery, so download it now before time runs out! We'll announce the winning names Wednesday night!!

Many of you mentioned earlier on that it be great if we posted tutorials here. A week or so ago, Celine Navarro put together a mini album tutorial for her weekly "Technique Tuesday" post using CP's Season collection. She sent us photos of the album and a link to the album's instructions. We thought you might be interested in checking them out! Of course, Celine built the entire album from scratch, including the binding. She also incorporated felt into her album's design, which is a material we're totally in love with right now. Who isn't crazy about felt these days?! Felt and embroidery floss are a "scrapbookers" best friend..seriously, throw in a needle and you'll have everything needed to create your own one-of-a-kind embellishments. Celine created her own custom "dots" using our papers and various hand-cut circles of felt.
