Mini CP Project Portfolio with Larissa Albernaz

Hello! It's CP Girl Larissa Albernaz! I'm joining you today to share a layout with you that just so happens to be extra unique! It includes a small mini book album that I've used to host and premier all my Crate Paper projects. This idea came to me while admiring a wonderful Crate Paper catalog that I picked up during my visit to CHA. I simply thought upon looking at the catalog - "Why not make a layout to show the projects I created with these beautiful collections?" That's exactly what I decided to do and on top of that, I scrapped the catalog as well! 

Anyway, I thought it best to demonstrate how to create the mini book because it's easily incorporated on a personal project. It can be adapted to fit any theme you want!

Pretty cute, eh?! Now lets jump into making one...

 

Mini Album Material List:

CP School Spirit Pattern Paper {Chemistry}
CP Restoration Pattern Paper {Refinish}
An Assortment of CP Chipboard/Brad Accents
Sticker Alphas
Trimmer
Scissors
Corner Chopper
Gesso
Brush
Gaffer Tape
Adhesive
Sewing Machine 

 

Get eight pieces of paper. Trim four pages from a book as I've done above (4.5" x 5.5") and then trim an additional four rectangles (4.5" x 5.5") from Crate Paper's Chemistry & Refinish pattern papers.

 

Stick the pages together (pattern paper + book paper) with the help of gaffer tape and then round the corners of the handmade album with either a corner rounder or "corner chopper". 

 

And finally, to ensure the album is bound entirely and well, sew along the length of the gaffer tape with a heavy duty needle. After doing so, ensure the thread is tightly tied in place to avoid it from unraveling. Select a thread color that you feel best compliments your album. I chose black as it goes with everything! 

 

For extra protection and page stability, pass a slight coat of gesso over all the pages of your album. Allow the pages to dry before decorating each of them.

And now for a cozy quilt inspired tutorial from our CP Girl Lori Gentile!

Hello Crate Paper friends! Lori Gentile with you today to share a layout about my favorite time of year. I love all things Fall. In California the majority of trees do not shed their leaves or turn colors. So, we see a spattering of yellow, gold, and red against a giant backdrop of lush green. Our family does gather up the few leaves that do fall and have, at least, one day of blissful leaf throwing playtime.

 

Crate Paper Supplies Used:

Restoration Pattern Paper {Fringe & Lace}
Snow Day Pattern Paper {Mittens, Festive & Melt}
Snow Day Phrase Stickers
Snow Day Border Stickers
Snow Day Layered Chipboard Accents
School Spirit Pattern Paper {Homeroom}
Pink Plum Chipboard Accents
Brook Chipboard Accents
Brook Sparkle Chips

 

Cut 1 ¾ x 12” strips from Fringe, Mittens, Festive, Melt and Homeroom papers. Then cut three 1 ¾ x 1 x ¾ “ squares from each strip.

 

 Bend each side up to create some texture.

 

Ink each edge. I like it messy and quick!

 

Plan out where on the Lace paper you want your squares to go.

 

Place a small dot of glue in the center of each square to adhere your square. It’s best to have the adhesive in the center only, so as not to sew through it and ruin your machine needle.

 

Sew a border around the outside of the Lace paper.

 

Sew around the edge of each of the top squares in the first row.

 

Place a generous amount of Glossy Accents to the orange sections of the Pink Plum chipboard blossom. I do this by running the skinny tip back and forth, back and forth.

 

While the Glossy Accents is still wet, pour orange micro beads on top of your chipboard to cover glossy areas. Shake off any excess beads and set the chipboard aside to dry.

 

When the micro beads have dried, ink the edges of your chipboard with brown ink.

 

Cut  down the orange and green Snow Day border stickers down to ¾ in length and ink their edges. Adhere them to lower left portion of your squares.

 

Start on the left side and sew a zig zag stitch and then a straight stitch across the length of the border stickers. Next, sew three journaling lines below the border stickers on the very left side.

 

Complete your layout with images, journaling and embellishing at will.

Crate Paper Houses & A Recipe Album

Oh my goodness you guys, we have a great line-up of two spectacular projects for you to peek at today!! The timing of both projects couldn't of been better because with the weekend upon us, we always want to leave you with something that will knock your socks off and these two projects deliver like no tomorrow!! One found it's way to us from Scrapbook.com - it's of a gorgeous, multi-page recipe album from Scrapbook.com's founder, Jill Davis. The other is from our famous DYI crafter, Lolly Chessie - wouldn't you know it, Lolly's created a village for you to visit and the best part is, the houses are cuter than ever!! Come take a look..chances are, you won't want to leave!!

 

Besides wanting to know what sort of recipes Jill has hidden away in this precious album, we still can't get over the fact that she's used our Restoration chipboard shapes & cardstock stickers as page tabs in the album. What a fantastic idea!! We would of never thought of these items as "page tabs" per say, so when we saw them, we knew this album would be a major hit with our blog readers! Even the little labels that Jill added to the tabs are insatiably cute. Besides the tabs, we're huge fans of the album's overall concept - Restoration and recipes is obviously a perfect pair! The two seem to work really well together, amazingly! We're betten' this album is entirely at home in Jill's kitchen..thank- you Jill for allowing us to post this - Visit Scrapbook.com for more info about the project! 

 

Are you ready to move in? We've already begun packing our bags!! These houses are so very sweet and cozy, don't you think?! And of course, we're guessing (now this is just a guess..wait, we just did our homework and they're actually a Sizzix die-cut!) that they're made entirely from scratch. Imagine that, sitting down and making tiny houses out of paper..aren't they quite something?! Lolly, these would be a great addition to your CP holiday tree collection..maybe a Christmas village from Snow Day? Possibly with glitter and cute puffs of snow...we love these houses.
