Hello CP fans! I'm so excited to share a layout with you today using the wonderful Carousel collection by Maggie Holmes. The theme this week is comfort zones and how to step out of your routine way of crafting.
To do this, I decided to challenge myself in two ways. 1. To create a monochromatic layout with a small pop of color....and... 2. To use minimal embellishments for the design. If you have been following my work for awhile you know that I am a huge fan color, the more the better! I also have a big love for embellishments. They can add so much to your design.
For my layout today, I started by choosing a black and white 4"x6" photo of my niece and also chose a black and white patterned paper for the background. Next, I sifted through papers in the Carousel collection to find my accent color. I loved these hot air balloons from the "Carried Away" paper and I loved the pop of pink. I used my scissors to fussy cut three hot air balloons out.
I loved the idea of making pink the only pop of color on this layout. It brings a real feminine touch and style to the layout. I added a few strips of light pink crepe paper (from my own stash) and a few other embellishments from the collection. This is very different from most layouts that I create but I love the simplicity of it.
I hope that my layout has inspired you today to step out of your comfort zone. What will you create?
