Ornamental gold frames, whether empty or filled, are exquisite decorative pieces for either the everyday or a special occasion. When paired with a rich color palette, warm gold tends to radiate and takes on a whole 'nother layer of depth that is glamorous, luxe and commandingly stylish! Just check out Naomi Atkin's "Give Thanks" home decor project using our very own, Close Knit collection.
I have this beautiful gold frame that I love, and wanted to make something pretty inside it for the Fall. Crate's NEW "Close Knit" collection is perfect for Fall photos, so I decided to use it with a few other craft items I had on hand.
I layered one diagonal strip of woodgrain paper, and then layers of other papers in random order, horizontally. I had some lace, so I sewed it over the top of the gold doily vellum paper (on which I punched a border) from Maggie Holmes' "Flea Market" collection.
I had some gold leaves as well - I twisted them around a woodgrain brad and attached them to the bottom left. The "Close Knit" collection contains some very beautiful stitched bits and borders, so I used two different ones to layer over my paper strips. I added "Give Thanks" in gold and woodgrain. I also added a heart and a couple of silhouette chipboard elements to finish it off.
This project was so much fun and adds interest and color to my Fall decorations. I normally fill all my frames with photos, but this is a great alternative! With all of Crate's dimensional embellishments, home decor projects can be accomplished with minimal time and effort. So, why not consider creating your own Autumn gold gilded frame? Make two - one for you, and another for a friend!
