Hello, Hello! It's Larissa with you today to show you a free-form 3-D carousel that I've created for displaying the beautiful Emma's Shoppe collection and it's textured layered chipboard pieces. I also created it because I think it's important for us to remember that "play" is absolutely essential in life - dreams and fun included! So, why not decorate your house with a cute project like this one? Let's get started, shall we?
The Essentials: Emma's Shoppe Collection, basic cutting tools, adhesive {tacky glue/hot glue}, Distress Ink {Ranger; Barn Door}, cardboard, toilet paper tube, twine, bling, laces, trim & Curvy Cutter {any circle cutter}.
Trim three 7" x 7" circles from Emma's Shoppe patterned papers and also, cut two circles of the same size from cardboard. Two of these circles will be used for the carousel's ceiling and the other for the platform - a cardboard for each!
Let's begin with the platform. Adhere one of the patterned paper circles to a cardboard circle for added stability.
And then liberally ink it's edges with Ranger Distress Ink and soft sponge...
Trim two strips of Emma's Shoppe Books paper {2" x 12"} and two trips of cardboard {2.5" x 12"}
Fold the cardboard strips at around a 1/2" in from it's edge.
Cut along the folded side of the cardboard. This will enable you to curl the cardboard around the circular platform base with the help of it's folded tabs.
Finally, adhere the book paper strip to the piece of cardboard as I've done above.
Now let's put together the circular platform base with the book strips! See how the tabs help form the base without the paper tearing? They're a tremendous help!
Here's our platform base after we've glued the two cardboard pieces in place. It forms a circular box.
Embellish the top edge of the platform with Emma's Shoppe ribbon - adhere it solidly in place.
For the center column, use a toilet tube and cover it with Emma's Shoppe Playhouse paper.
Very carefully and with a steady hand, adhere the roll to the platform (quick drying glue helps here!)
Attach the ceiling...
Trim a 9" circle from Inventory patterned paper to create your roof - we're going to transform it into a cone. Trim a small section from the circle to assist with the forming of the cone.
Curl and overlap the two ends to create the cone. Adhere well so that the cone stays together.
Adhere it on top the circle that we previously added and then insert the layered chipboard horse.
Trim multiple one-third sections from your circles to create a decorative top edge for the carousel.
Glue them as shown...
And finally, embellish it to suite your tastes :)

That carousel is BEAUTIFUL!!! How creative! The UPS man just dropped off my box with 3 of the NEW collections! They are so much more amazing in person...and that's saying something! Cant wait to play!

Question about the challenge---when you say new collections--is that the four just releasing? Or does Restoration count? I am a slllooooowwww scrapper and don't have any of the just hitting stores items yet---so wanted to check on the newness of new! LOL
