Hi there, my Crate Paper friends, Mou Saha here with today’s tutorial.
I love to paint just as much as I love to scrapbook. I try to add a touch of paint wherever I can in my projects. A canvas is just as inviting as a piece of cardstock to me as it gives me a blank slate to express myself. I have combined my love of paper and paint to create this month’s tutorial project. Let me walk you through the steps.
Mixed Media Canvas Supplies:
- 8 x 10 Canvas
- Restoration collection - patterned papers, rub-on images, stickers
- Snow Day collection - brads
- Acrylic Paints
- Glimmer Mists
- Embroidery Floss & Needle
- Pen
- Adhesive
Start with an 8”x10” canvas and make a rough pencil sketch on it (draw lightly!).
Attach bits and pieces of patterned papers from the Restoration collection on the sketched canvas using Quick-Dry Adhesive (Scotch).
Mix 2 parts white acrylic paint and 1 part water and do a whitewash over the canvas. This ties all the patterned paper designs together and softens their colors for a more cohesive look. Paint the remaining canvas in shades of pink, yellow and orange.
Once the paint dries, attach your photo to the canvas.
Rub on brown doily image overlapping the card piece toward the right.
Cut a yellow border from Fringe paper and attach below the photo. Handstitch a line below the photo with pink embroidery floss. Cut flowers out of the Slipcover paper, crumple, flatten and layer them and hold them together with a decorative brad. Attach toward the bottom right corner of the photo.
Attach “Sweet Little Thing” and “Beautiful” stickers and journal on the yellow border.
Rub on border images along the top and left edges of the photo.
Cover the photo and spray glimmer mists in various spots on the canvas to finish the project.
Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and will consider giving it a try! Thanks for joining me today!
